I have a whole bunch of funny photos and a few stories from my coop from over the last week or so. I haven't been sharing them as it feels insensitive to do so, especially as there has been so much illness and worry going on here. Plus I didn't want to detract from Sydney's hatch theme. I'll share at some point though.

Just a quick update from the Chicken Palace. I had a bit of a scare and was admitted to hospital as an emergency in the middle of the night I think it was Wednesday. They just released me, fortunately without needing surgery. But I have to ease back to solid food slowly.
Anyway, the chicks seem to have become huge with just a couple of days away from them!
But they are still not quite brave enough to come out of their brooder area but are beginning to be curious.
It is very hot here and I managed to fit hardware cloth shutters to the Palace Windows so the Princesses can enjoy a bit of a breeze at night.
According to the hospital I am supposed to rest over the next few days. My attempts to nap on the sofa were a bit stymied by Nightshade.
That’s it from me. Time I had another nap. View attachment 2215719View attachment 2215720View attachment 2215721View attachment 2215722
That must have been an unpleasant surprise.

Take it easy RC 😲 and feel better soon :hugs

Your babies are adorable as ever especially peeping out of their baby door. I hope the integration goes well.

So I decided to try the barium sulfate and clavamox for Roxy. She’s happy to be home. No free ranging, since we don’t know what’s upsetting her intestines. Fed her some cooked beef liver (purchased especially for her), which she loved!

She was practically licking the plate. 🤗

:hugs

Bob, Since I had him, the only night Jaffar ever spent in the coop, was the same night he contracted fly strike. I haven't let him sleep on the coop floor since. He can't fly up where the other birds perch. He's just not built that way. And I confess, I like that Feathered alarm clock!:D
It is a special thing. I am glad that he wants to be with you. You are very lucky to have that relationship with him. :love

Also, we're in Sunday afternoon while you're on Saturday night. Your Sunday evening is our Monday afternoon.

If you've ever wondered why we're so quiet on Sundays it's because we're working already :)
I'm ashamed to say that I forget that all the time.

You may share. Especially funny stories. :p

Sydney's hatch is old news now. 😉

Up on the Back

I've been waiting for this one. I've seen the pictures. Ned/Nanette jumped up on Sydney's back yesterday. This is not a great picture but you can see it in silhouette. Anyone know why they jump on mom's Back?

I have a Minnie, too! Same spelling. It took me weeks to name her. She was going to be Minnie, Tiny, Itty Bitty or just Bitty, but Minnie stuck. :)
For reasons that are obscure to me, one of my Grandmas was called Minnie or 'Aunty Min'. Her real name was Miriam so I guess it was a nickname. I hadn't really thought I was naming the chick after her (only made the connection after she told me her name!).
