He truly is. He turns 18 or 19 this year. He has been there and done that in his younger years used in a 4-H riding program. His owner used him in drill team. He is no quarter horse, but, he knows a barrel pattern and sometimes Rosie will set up barrels in the ring and play around. As you can see, it takes some work to get him out of gaiting into galloping but it is all fun and games. If you are a total beginner, Russ is the horse you want. He actually prefers children and beginners. We can all ride Russ, but, Russ is only happy with his ears forward with Rosie on his back. One of us hop on, he behaves, but those ears are pinned. Rosie has decided this year, at least for the first show she is only entering "Go as you please" and "Doubles" with her best friend. Doubles is for redemption. The fall happened last year as they were announcing for the riders to get ready for doubles and they were walking towards the entrance.

That sounds like a load of fun I haven’t been to a horse show in over 20 yrs sometimes I miss it.

Well I can’t wait to see how she does with her friend!!

New chicks

The Marty baby is very cute, she has a cute little poof, hairy legs and 5 toes

Th Sophia babies are white bellies, one has white wing tips.

Chick update

I was astonished to see the three new chicks and to compare them to my first chicks, they appeared similar in size and the new ones jus seemed very more filled out and energetic.

I have been suspicious that they were not eating enough, it didn’t seem that they were very interested in the feed I bought and I thought it was because of the size of the crumble, so I tried breaking it up smaller, they seemed a bit more interested but not enough for my liking.

I had some chick starter from about a yr ago so I checked it, seemed ok threw some into the crate and they went mad for it! So I threw more in…..

What a game changer, everyone seems more energetic and eating more, I also cranked the heat in the feed room.

I put the three new chicks in with the others, but tomorrow may I split them up, that silkie X is just too tiny. I will see how she is getting on with the other hooligans.

Oh and I think she is a Phyllis wanna-be I think she will have a white crown
