OMG - what a bunch of idiots! I never use UPS because I have had so many issues with them here. And Purolator. FedEx has been really reliable! And Amazon gets my stuff here usually ahead of time and I live in the boonies, if they can then what's the issue with UPS and Purolator?
As a recipient I have had much better luck with UPS. FedEx used to leave packages under random trees in the woods and mark them as 'left in the mail room' or 'handed to security guard' (I have neither a mail room nor a security guard). To be fair they have improved recently.
This is the first time I am experiencing loss of a package I sent.
Still very mad.
:he

The @$*%ers have just updated the tracking to say it will now be delivered tomorrow. 24 hours after the service I paid for. And I dont believe it because there is no movement in the package itself so I bet it is still lost.

OK lovely people - I need to go to town (yes I will change first :lau, and wash the mud off my face); need groceries, and a small narrow bowl to put down for the youngsters when they are roaming free (I put their brooder plate in the sandbox for them to warm up, and their food under it so the greedy gobblers don't get it). I had them roaming all day yesterday, and all morning today with the big people :)

They sure are smart enough to get out of the way of Marty and Dorothy, my two bully girls. I am soooooo surprised at Marty! What a toad! I would have bet she would have taken one look and went into her nestbox and went broody! Nope - she has turned into a baby snob!

The one that surprised me was Blanche!!!! She is in there laying her egg, clucking away like a pro! She has NEVER in her 4 yrs on this planet gone broody, I am starting to think she will go broody. If she does I will give her 2 or 3 eggs to hatch out - she is a BOSS MARE so I have no worries about anyone harassing her, she will thump anyone who messes with her.

Anyways the kids have been having a blast running around the barn, and outside, when the girls ran to the backdoor to go outside when I emptied the wheelbarrow, those kids ran after them like pros! So I let them go out, I put their little box inside the backdoor though as a safe place for them to go - I just worry about them out there if the horses come around - which Reenie did - they ran inside to their little box - good kids! I put them back into their bin though, I don't trust the other that much if I am not around!

Brownie:
I shut the girls out in the run this morning, so I could check on Brownie without the entire nosey flock barging in and disturbing her. Then I went around to the coop door.

Brownie got up when she heard me and flew at the tent door (she entirely has both food and water in with her), but clearly she wanted out! So I opened the tent door and she bolted out of the tent and right out of the coop door, I had left opened, to nibble some grass and poop ALOT 😂.

As a result, I stood there for the next 10 minutes or so worried she would decide not to go back to the eggs. She did go back but goodness it is hard to trust nature to do its thing.

While she was off the nest I visually inspected the eggs, one has a tiny dent in it which appears to be caused by Brownie perhaps stepping on it or maybe its an external pip idk?

Best news is that I am pretty sure I did hear a few tiny peeps and scratching type noises coming from the eggs.

Now, can I manage to not go check on her a zillion times today???
What day are you on? Mine have hatch day 19! They say day 21 but my chickens have not read that book apparently. Even the ones incubated this year - day 19! I doubt it's a crack - those egg have to be stomped on really hard - if non of my eggs crack from my gang stomping on the to lay eggs, I am sure it's likely an external pip.

Think good thoughts.

Shopping? Don’t forget to get the bacon 🥓 and more butter.

I know I haven't talked much. You all pretty much know my situation. I may have forgot an update but what it basically comes down to is I will have gallbladder surgery if my colonoscopy comes back clear. The surgeon thinks I may have colitis and doesnt want to operate because it could cause complications. If I mispell anything its because i shake all the time now. Been sicker and sometimes the nausea pills dont work and I throw up anyways. The pain is pretty much constant now.
I dont spend a lot of time with the chooks because Im too sick and weak and dizzy. I also got diagnosed with vertigo. (Yay) I do get out there for snacks. They love leftovers.
Hubby has been feeding them in the morning.
Another reason I dont talk much is because people dont really talk to me on here and I dont know what to say or feel ignored
But thanks for all your blessings and prayers.
We are praying for you. One thing I am wondering is do you have a medical advocate? Many health system offer them to people with complex health problems. I feel like you could qualify for one. It might really help you to have someone working on your behalf with all of your doctors, etc.

I have filed a claim so may get my money back. But that doesn't compensate for the stress to poor Eli travelling to the vet and having her toenail cut to draw blood.
And of course it also doesn't compensate me for the anxiety and not having test results.
If it gets there in the next 48 hours they can still do the Marek's test I believe but not the Avian Leukosis test. We only have until end of day for the Avian Leukosis test to work.
I also need to decide what to do about the babies. I think I am going to move them into the Chicken Palace even without any test results.
If the package never shows up I have to decide whether to subject Eli to that stress again and if so, when. It could not be before next week because by Thursday it will be too late as the lab is closed at the weekend and I am out a lot of the day tomorrow.
Also want to be calm if I am going to attempt blood collection on my own.
Oh I am soooooooo mad!

Pigletine tax to calm myself down.

I think it is a good move to put them out with your girls, my three have fit in really well, and I attribute that to letting everyone see them from those first early days.

Now they are running around in the barn and a bit outside like pros, they know to run and hide from the beo.... (errr I mean bully girls), and the rest just ignore them. They won't be 3 weeks old until Thursday - and it is miserably cold here but they are thriving! It's still only 6C (43F), this morning it was 4C - and they were buzzing around like crazy, when they got cold they would run under their brooder plate, but that wasn't often.

Can't wait for them to see snow tomorrow morning hahahahaha - mean Kelly! :)

As for your girl, I know you are more than capable of clipping a toe nail short and getting that blood sample. Just wrap her up tight in a towel and then lots of treats after... I have a lot of faith in you 💞

(I will have to do something similar to gender test those silkie chicks, but I think I will get blood feathers instead - their toes are just soooo tiny!)
