Sure looks like it could be some smoke haze with it, usually give a brilliant red sky, I need to wait another hour for sunset, but it sure got hazy today when I had those chicks out eating worms

How is Bernie reacting towards the newbies?

Mainly she is ignoring them.
When Pigletine landed right in front of her beak I was fearful. But Bernie just looked up at me with a ‘I really deserve those sunflower seeds’ look.
I feel for Bernie. Five is a lot and they make a lot of noise and commotion!
I am worried how Babs will respond - she seems more aware of them than Bernie does.
I don’t know what transpired between Eli and Pigletine. Silly Piglet went into the nest boxes howling in distress that she was lost. Then she shot out. I imagine Eli informed her she was not welcome to join the golf ball.

But Babs has always been more reserved and more aware of her surroundings - that is who Babs is.

Now Bernie understands why Maggie would need to go for a solo 'stroll about' and why Diana so cherished her peaceful spot against the wall...until someone started jumping on her head!

Good as far as I can tell. I need to weigh her - I do worry about her not eating enough.
I also wonder how I get this to end. Eli is not the kind of chicken you can confine in a broody jail.
I keep hoping she will just come to her senses.

Exactly right.
I also think I need to give Bernie a curtain for the bigger nest boxes. She is clearly not fully happy with current arrangements

Yay! as long as no lightening though. But it's not going to last long unfortunately, I see you will be back into the hot hot hot weather again soon.

Do you have an evacuation plan for all those chooks of yours? Maybe a trip to the grocery store for some boxes is in order. Have your passport, SIN, and any other important documents, cash (have cash incase of any power outages), and feed, water and food for you on hand and ready to roll.

I do have a plan for here as I live in a heavily brush area, I will throw all the chooks into the truck under the tonneau cover, get the trailer hooked up and load whoever gets onto the trailer, mum drives out with the cat, and I ride out on the old beotch Truly who I know wont get on the trailer.

The rest can all be replaced.

@LhickenChicken if you need to evacuate an head south across the border, I'm pretty close to due south of you. PM me and I'll have something figured out by the time you reach me.

Pigletine had an adventure.
She aimed for the roost but overshot and landed first on the wood strip holding up the flat panel heater.
She soon corrected and marched up and down the main roost like she owns the place. Then she flew to the ground right in front of Bernadette. I don’t have a photo of that as both hands were deployed distracting Bernie with sunflower seeds.
When Piglet flies she looks like a hummingbird. She is so tiny and her winds flap really, really fast!
