Everyone keeps telling me to read the Harry Potter books, as they are way better than the movies. I watched the movies one weekend one winter when it was a blizzard. I really need to get the books and read them.
Definitely read the books. I have read and re-read them multiple times. I won't see the movies though because the books are so vivid in my mind.
I will definitely try this in that case, your climate is similar to mine (bit warmer likely), but I bet just as humid here in the summer. I can put the fan outside the Hen House door and hang a wet sheet on the mesh door and blow the air through it. I wonder if there is a chart for measuring the temperature differential...?I didn’t think it would work with my humidity but it really did. I placed a fan outside (away from the dust) and it blew through the hardware cloth over the open window onto the wet sheet.
I think the fan made a big difference in a humid environment. In a dry environment you could probably just wet the soil and get a good cooling result.
Yep! They've been great. The chicks have started eating some treats (sunflower seeds, corn kernals) that they watched the adults eat. Those are fayoumi, right? Beauties and reputed to be fantastic foragers and predator alert. Should help teach the littles a lot!
Thanks so much! They really enjoy kicking the wood chips into their water cups... Honestly, they're going to invent a new sport at this rate.Welcome back and congratulations on the exams. Looks like you are getting a good home for them set up. I bet they like the woodchips.
I too use the electric netting and I have been planting shrubs to give them shade. Word of advice, net them off and put stones or bricks around their base until they are well established. My lot managed to dig up a year-old 3' high shrub down to the root ball in just two hours. Ugh!
Yep, he's fayoumi mixed with something, and the hen is full fayoumi.Your Roo is a lovely boy - I love his eyes! I think I saw someone post they are Fayoumi - right? I will read ahead to see.
The place looks great! Oh and congratulations on completing and passing your semester![]()
I enjoyed the Harry Potter books. Haven’t watched the movies. But I lost interest after maybe five of them.Everyone keeps telling me to read the Harry Potter books, as they are way better than the movies. J K Rawling is truly imaginative and fanciful, like Tolkien (oh and dare I say Dr Who - yes I am a Who-nite). Actually all story tellers have one thing in common - they are imaginative and fanciful, true Bards![]()
I firmly believe that if they adapted a movie from a book, the book is 1000x better. Of course I am a avid reader so that my cloud my opinion. Rosie is following in my footsteps with a love of reading. I am so proud of one of the things she asked for her birthday and we made sure she got. She wanted to read the book "To Kill A Mockingbird". A classic, one 20+ years ago I was REQUIRED to read in 9th grade english. Her school, the very same high school I attended, has 1 copy to it's name now, and it is NOT allowed to be checked out. They are doing Semester exams this week, has 2 today and the rest of her classes doing nothing. She took that book today to read in class instead of watching movies. Oh, the book they had to read this year, "The Hunger Games".........really now.I enjoyed the Harry Potter books. Haven’t watched the movies. But I lost interest after maybe five of them.
They are fun and she spins a good yarn. But she is no Tolkien.
Oh the Classics - all good readsand loved the movies also.
I found this article and chart for evaporative cooler units. I will definitely try this method this summer.I will definitely try this in that case, your climate is similar to mine (bit warmer likely), but I bet just as humid here in the summer. I don't know what this vegetable is, it has big green leaves and a lot of white flies are attracted to it. I've given all the leaves to the girls and they are loving it.
My hip/pelvic area is in immense pain since yesterday. I picked up a heavy bag and I'm not mobile at all. So these leaves came at the right time to entertain my girls
He was a beautiful rooster.
