She is a rockstar for sure and she was mighty sick of that tent 😂 She seems much happier to be back in with everyone. I am thrilled about this as she will have plenty of time to teach them to roost and for them to find there way into the pecking order.
She did amazing! 👍👍

I opened the door to their little coop today as I have a small run of about 250 square feet for just them that is adjacent to the much larger one the hens occupy when not in their foraging yard. No one was brave enough to even approach the door! Or maybe it was too chilly for their liking.

Anyway, they are busy learning about the world. I saw my first chest bumps today, initiated by Goneril!
Awwww so cute when they do that 😊💖

I can't wait to see their colouring 🤗

Watching the interactions on @Ponypoor’s video made me realize that Eli and the Pentagonists interact in a very similar way. So maybe she really does think they are her babies.
Either way, I am happy to have my beautiful green chicken back - I missed her company while she sat on her nest all day.
Here she is checking that everything is safe for her babies.

Just wait until she shows them all how to fly into the rafters to roost. 😆

If nothing else she has taken to baby sitting them. Even though they are getting a late start there is much she can teach them. It would not surprise me to soon see her trying to get them to roost beside her. No matter how long this lasts watch their interactions. This will give you a idea of how good of a mother she would be if in the future you do let her hatch.
She surely would adopt chicks if they were stuck under her at night.

Here is Young Miss Tassels. @RebeccaBoyd - see, she really does have feathered feet. To be honest they alarm me now and then because I think her leg is all swollen and then I realize it is just feathers. It looks like she is getting some fluffy muffs coming in. Or maybe that is just chick fluff making its way out.
She is noticably bigger than the other four. I suspect she will grow up to be a big gal.

Of course Piglet noticed there was a photo shoot in progress and demanded in on the action.
She is such a ham!

Amazing photos. That last one is real Art. Make sure you enter it in the calendar contest.

Love the eggs. Both Tassels and Calypso have rather impressive tails. They are still a bit ragged as they are growing in but you can tell they will be quite splendid.
I noticed today that neither of them shine green in the sun. They were with Eli who was shimmering like an emerald. Does that only come with adult feathers? Or do some black chickens not shine in colors?

Tax for tediously going on about my chickens because I am besotted! Tassels and Calypso working their way to becoming fluffy butt models.

The sheen (green/blue/purple) is from the oil on their feathers. They are not "preening" enough yet or their feathers are not accepting the oil yet. There are no matte chickens. They will shine like Eli.

I might have photos of young Maleficent I can use to demonstrate.

Awwww so cute when they do that 😊💖

Me too! I am thinking that Cordelia might have a pea comb. It's much wider than the others and doesn't have the obvious (but tiny) single comb starting. I would be happy about that. I love Easter Eggers and that comb type is ideal for our winters.
