My 4 week old school chick crowed this morning ☹️
Freezer camp....
Ok so senior moment….

It wasn’t the school chick, it was Penne the non- silkie chick with my co-broodies - getting so I can’t tell them apart!!

I do know that for about 5 seconds I thought it was Tippy! And I was freaking out!

What I am doing now, is making her as comfortable as possible. I put on a silk shirt, and my softest sweat pants. And just holding her close to me. I invite her to taste water or food I have prepared (no success with that) and we are having the deepest conversations I have ever had with her.

Blood pressure has jumped high because of that post. You trying to kill me?
SAVE THE ROOSTERS! :old

I'm playing devils advocate here for @Ponypoor . Everyone on here knows my luck with hatching boys. I cannot tell you how hard it is to find homes for extra roosters, at times it is near impossible. I still have madea, at this point I will give him away. I do not eat my roosters, actually I do not eat any of my chickens. That being said some of the boys have been sold and were processed. I am sad about it, but until that time they lived a good life. A much better one than those poor chickens raised in the commercial poultry industry. I have to make peace with the fact that many boys I have been able to place in homes and are still alive today while knowing that some ended up feeding a family. It also all depends on your area if placing roosters is easy. In my area, everyone wants hens, very few want roosters. And we are rural for the most part and any and everyone can have roosters. Not everyone wants a rooster with their flock even if they can. You all know me, I love my boys, I would keep them all if I could. The simple fact is I cannot, so I do my best and have to live with knowing I tried my best for every single male chick I have hatched.

Yeah, my pills for calcium citrate are huge. I just cut them in half.

I hope beloved Hen-Rietta will pull through this!
How old is she?
Hen-Rietta will be seven years old next month. She seems bored, so I have Jaffar inside with us to keep her company for a while.
