We just happened to have wooden eggs. They believe they are real. Gaby will flare her hackles if she sees one.
I use golf balls - they love their golf balls :) And my silkies were very happy when their golf balls hatched.

Everyone thought they would be putters and they were right! hahaha!

(get it? putter... pullet... ?)

I lost the little silver based americauna chick overnight. I was worried about that one. Even though I insisted the employee show me butts I somehow missed that it had a bad case of pasty butt. I did not catch it until it had been home about 3 hours. I got it all cleaned off eventually but it was like cement when found. At least the poor little chick had a real momma hen for a day. The rest are doing well and it is cemented in Raven's head that all those chicks are hers.
Sorry the little one didn't make it :hugs

??? I was just checking? It showed a different user but it says that it was you now...
My computer has these kinds of brainfarts. Yesterday it said that notabitail was you...
Nope tis me - fellow nice gal Canadian.

How's the smoke out there? really bad here, and really windy (not helping with the fires north of here let me tell you), I was just out with the sillkie babies and the wind was almost blowing them off their wee feet - but they have learnt to not stand broadside to the wind.

LIke a boat on the water, always face into the wind/waves! otherwise woooops! over you go!

Yep you are d4mn right - sorry but I have extremely strong views on animal (and people) welfare.

BRB got escapees.... get back here you little turnips!
Damn I almost rolled my chair over the Tweens - CHIIICKEENNNS

OK YES I am more than a bit ticked of. So you can all call me all the names you want I don't care, sometimes I just get fed up :he
I admire your being blunt. Sometimes I wish I could just tell people no and they'd back off.
I have had people tell me "My chickens don't have personality, but my ducks do". I just go on and on about how friendly my chickens are and how they have their own personalities and the such. Sometimes I change a mind, other times people still think they are just eggs and food.
I have gotten one family close to getting some chickens. I'm sure they'll love them when they get them.

The smoke is nonexistent. I heard of all the fires in Quebec, as well. No smoke, but one morning I woke up to ash on the car.

What I am doing now, is making her as comfortable as possible. I put on a silk shirt, and my softest sweat pants. And just holding her close to me. I invite her to taste water or food I have prepared (no success with that) and we are having the deepest conversations I have ever had with her.
She is in the best hands possible - those that she trusts. I know you will care for her properly. 7 is a goodly age for any chicken, but a Leghorn well that's just good care from you I am sure.
