I have no idea why they switched back to blue but who am I to question.
YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!

I was going to ask earlier but forgot!!! See I am psychic! Now if I can just buy a winning lottery ticket!

Gosh I am sooooo happy - happy happy happy!

You know today I cracked a couple blue eggs for my lunch and I checked the inside of the shell for being blue! It was - that’s what got me thinking of Glynda 🥰

Oh I am so happy 😊😊😊

I hope that it is over whatever was going on. Such a pretty egg but I've been very worried about what might be causing it.

I too am dealing with brats. It has taken me an hour to get them all back into the Chicken Palace. They don't need to go to bed - just into the runs so I can close the door and go in myself before I am completely eaten by the mosquitoes.
Bernie and Babs are reasonably easy to get to come in even if they have wandered far away because they hear the rattle of the tin cup and know there are sunflower seeds to be had.
But the littles. Oh dear oh dear.
One comes in and two go out. Two come in and three go out. Aaargh!
I realize now how much Eli was helping me in the evening by calling them in.
I need a tennis racquet or a rake to herd them.
I finally got them all in (or so I thought) and was leaving to go inside when I spot Piglet far outside the electric fence.
She has discovered where I was moving some rocks earlier and there were lots of woodlice/pill bugs. No tin cup was going to disturb that feast.
I try shooing her - but how do I get her in without losing others?
What a nightmare!
Everyone is in now. At least I think so. And I am ready for a very stiff drink and my bed. I really need to think about how to handle this better without Eli.
Maybe an early evening routine of mash for supper so they all get used to coming in a bit earlier.

She nearly gave me a heart attack this evening, but she is cute!

Piglet up in the butterfly bush not at all sure how she is going to get down!

Imagine having 28 of the little flockers!

Today I have been so ill with a migraine, and I was so upset they all bolted out the door before I could contain them. Thought I had them all inside so I did a count… OMG where is Frosty the white silkie chick!!!!

I was frantic! No peeping so I didn’t know where she was, finally I spotted her outside in the run. She was happily digging around on her own, and so you think o can catch her? No!

Finally got her pushed her inside so another count, OMG Martina is gone! She was also in the run but way at the top, I chased her back couldn’t catch her either, by now my head is
killing me and I am about the vomit. Finally she flaps up through a small opening in the barn doorway.

After a sit down I count everyone:
10 grups and one in a nestbox - check
8 school chicks - check
2 broody mamas and 4 chicks - check
3 bratty tweens - check

I am too old for this eggcitement. But one thing I notes, those silkie chicks can likely be weened pretty soon, they and mama are spending more and more time apart, it’s just at night they all cuddle together.

Yes very odd, I did some reading but could never find anything online, other than Penelope’s eggs now very pale blue but then she is 7 so who knows with her, the only time my gals eggs go light is before they molt. One day I will crack one of Penelope’s eggs and see the inside shell.

Oh I love her she is a hoot!

I grabbed Mr P and gave him a trim up for his hair do, I am getting quite aggressive about yanking out blood feathers, after cutting one off once and having a devil of a time finding it to yank out when cut, now I just haul them out.

Apparently if you haul out a bleeding blood feather it will stop bleeding faster.

I will trim his nails and spurs another night.
How do you yank them out?!

Awe, shucks, can't you get her to let you keep 1.....I mean, after all Foggy is your favorite, and she is such a glamour girl/cutie pie!!!
Oh trust me today I was almost crying, (it’s Cappy who I am fond of) well Cappy hops up on my arm and snuggles down for a snooze.

If I hadn’t been so sick I would have left her, but I needed to lay down.

I go from wanting them gone fast and telling myself I don’t need anymore, to making plans to make a deal with Shannon to keep her and bring one of her Roos down next year to cover her and give her the eggs ❤️

Of course I don’t know if she wants to sell them keep them or what. I want to go see the chicks she hatched a while back from Marty and mr P this weekend - I will broach the subject then 😟

Also if I can keep the silkie I will send the other two back to her, and keep Penne and Cappy to be with the mamas till they ween them - if shannon wants them back soon. Otherwise I will let them naturally ween.

But gosh ya I would like to keep her she is such a sweetheart. Her and Petunia and Little Grey ❤️
