Well, this is a medication that we will be unable to get once they sell out. So I would triple heart this post if I could!

According to tractor supply they are able to sell what stock they currently have BUT they will not be getting any more in and in the future I will need a prescription.

In the process of doing this, I found one vet that would see a chicken. They wanted $61.00 for the appointment alone not including medication or any tests they might have chosen to run. 😱 the ointment I got expires in one yr. I can only hope they change something about this rule before then because I am sincerely concerned about the consequences for backyard folks.

I see both sides of the argument, I do. I just hope for a middle ground that makes more sense for everyones needs.
Really? The eye ointment is becoming prescription only?

Any idea what this is? I'm thinking mites, because Splotch has it too. They got it while I was away, and Pastel was not in there with them during that time. Edit- sorry about the second photo
I am sorry Pastel I cannot really see in those photos.
If it is mites there is a good article on how to treat which when I am at my computer I can try and find for you

Oh, I was wondering.... Could I reuse the donut? I probabaly can't... it was actually quite difficult to make!
I did end up using Prid today, just to make the whole process go by faster.
That is why I thought the pipe insulation and @bgmathteach idea of human corn pads were such good ideas. I think making a donut is super hard.
The pipe insulation should be easy to find in a hardware store. Your Dad may even have some spare!
Human corn pads are available at any pharmacy.
Some people have suggested using pool noodles but I find those very hard to cut accurately.

Glad you were able to upload the pictures. I agree with Bob. It is definitely bumblefoot and not yet a systemic infection so doesn't need oral antibiotics.
But what it does need is a LOT of patience and diligence.
So a nice soak every day without fail. The video Bob posted showed a 5gallon bucket. You can also use something shallower like a dish washing bowl as long as you can get her to stay in there calmly for a nice long time so the skin on her foot gets nice and soft.
Then, after the soak, you need to do the bandaging using the donut/ring to keep pressure off that part in the middle.
At this stage keeping the pressure off and softening the skin with the soaking are the most important things to do.
In a day or so you can start using the drawing salve (I think most people use Prid - but post a picture here of what you have/can get so we can help you make sure you have the right thing). You don't need to start the drawing salve today so take your time to get the right stuff. You do need to start soaking today if possible!

Keep posting us pictures of progress - I don't think you should try to remove it until you have done many days of soaking, drawing salve, donut bandaging. And, as Bob said, you will likely need a second pair of hands when you get to the removing stage.
:goodpost:

I need to check out Hen-Rietta’s feet, but she’s being a Leghorn (determined to NOT let me catch her. I already tried (for 20 minutes) then left her alone. She would not let me catch her and I tried hard.
They are feisty and quick.

According to the manager of tractor supply yes indeedy and rural king already requires a script for it here and refused to sell it to me.

Perhaps they are misinterpreting, the law is new and we are very rural. I could see that as a possibility. But, it sure made it tricky for me. I ended ip going to a tractor supply in WV 45 min away as our local TS was out of it.
