Tina has been in hospice care for the past week. She stays in the house. My husband puts her on his lap or in a tub with bedding that he carries around with him.

I think he is extremely upset.

Today Tina can't move anymore. He is so upset that he barely talked to me.

Goodbye Tina. 😭😭
I’m so sorry. :hugs Your husband sounds like a good egg.

I think we need to work on going to roost inside the coop first! I am hopeful that once we start getting dark again that they will clue in and just go into the coop to roost without my encouragement.

Last night I got home around 10:30 pm and they were all hunkered down under their coop. When they saw me, tra la la they zoomed around, skipping and jumping! They really are adorable!
Gosh I love when they do that 😊

But holy Dinah when you want to put them to bed not so cute 😁

Raven and the chicklets. The Jailbirds are really starting to show their stripes. The 2 sussex, still look like chipmunks.

These 2 are from my own eggs.

My white one is not white anymore. In the past, if my yellow chicks change color it has not been a good sign. All have ended up to be boys.

Lilly is not the only hen hiding eggs in the food bin. The speckled egg is Lilly's. I suspect the solid one is Ducky's.

So lovely to see them out and about with their mama 💕

I'm sorry to say that the little chick didn't make it. She was out of the shell, but she died. I don't know how to use a spoiler, so just don't look if your sensitive.
I'm really bummed out. I didn't see any more pips or hear any chirps. I may take the eggs in to candle them, and probably incubate them until/if they hatch.
I buried the little cheeper behind a fence close to my coop.
RIP baby. Sorry that you couldn't live in my flock.
Sorry about your baby - maybe you can get her a couple of day olds from the feed mill so f they get any in.

Hi, Welcome back! I was missing you (though, the thread did move at a slower, more reasonable pace:lau.)

Agathae - well of course we would ignore the junk - once we set our eyes on you, we are mesmerized and can't see anything else.😍 You have an adorably floppy comb and lovely wattles, right @Ponypoor?
Absolutely 🥰

Such a gorgeous hen 💕

I was thinking that. My retired AG teacher may come out to pick some blueberries tomorrow. She has hundreds of chickens, and I gave her my guinea when he was getting bullied, so maybe I can see if she has any chicks that she wants to sell.
Or they still had those Brahma pullets that were calling my name at TSC 😉

We are in the middle of an end of days kind of thunderstorm - at times it is dark as night and the humidity is 81%. We have very heavy rain and flood warnings. The thunder is rattling the windows.
The cats are all hiding under beds and I can’t really get out to the Chicken Palace unless in dire emergency. I thought they might be frightened and checked the cameras.
They seem to be hanging out together and not really frightened at all.

You must be getting the storms I got this morning.

They seem to be doing well, if the storm isn’t bothering them.
