Pastel the Rooster
Crossing the Road
I always find doves in ny guinea coop durning the day when I go to put them up. I just pin them down and release them. They are so pretty. They have pink feet and perch on my hand for a moment.

Wow. That was pretty cool to see!Yes to those wondering….
Yes I went and bought Sophia a few chicks, she just isn’t snapping out of the broody hen thing and was starting to look drawn.
So I went and grabbed a few chicks at Peavey Mart (formerly TSC), 2 Bielefelders and 2 Cream Legbars, I am hoping that’s what they are hahahaha. Whatever they are I am hoping it gets her up and out of that nest!
I love how she shuffles them under her hahaha…
Anyway she is an unknown entity for broody hen, I have no idea what to expect so hope she doesn’t all of a sudden decide ‘OMG I do t know what you are I will eat you!’.
Lovely to see that! If we don't see babies forming when we candle this weekend, a local farm supply place is having chick days on the 8th. We'll get some for Eenie.Yes to those wondering….

Moving air still helps over still air. I let the hose run under the trees where they snooze. (I'm on a well). If the birds are holding wings away from their bodies and/or panting, they're hot. It's a fine line between hot and too hot. Here, anything above 80F has them doing the hot stance, so I implement cooling off options.Lovely to see that! It's hot! Only 92 but the heat index feels like 98 according to my phone app. It's a bit hotter inside the coop. View attachment 3558821
But I'm happy to see that, in the nest box, it's actually a bit cooler (the thermometer has a probe I've put down there).View attachment 3558827
At how hot should I worry?
I have battery fans and frozen jugs of water ready to make swamp coolers if necessary. Making sure the run has shade and we can open the garage door on the front of the coop/shed for more air...but 106 degree air is still 106 degree air whether it's moving or not.
hahaha too funnyOpened the blinds this morning to see this- 4 impatiently waiting for the nesting boxes- then 1 said, to heck with this I'm going on- she'll have to share..

Gosh they don't seem distressed at all at 92. 80 is a really normal summer temp. Is your humidity low? It's 60% here. I wouldn't think adding extra moisture to the air would be a good thing...Moving air still helps over still air. I let the hose run under the trees where they snooze. (I'm on a well). Wait till your eggs hatch and see what happens.Ahhh! I am so jealous! I was just bugging my dad last night about getting some Cream Legbar and Bielfelders (and of course a hundred other breeds)
Sometimes they are really squawking other times mild clucking- which they were doing at that moment....hahaha too funnydo they yell up a storm about it too?
Nerve wracking really!Wow. That was pretty cool to see!
