Eenie isn't panting, but her comb is looking pale. Shall I evict her for the nest and try to force her to drink?

I would haul her butt off and put her out in the wet dirt to dig around a bit, and try her to drink, she might drink some wild water (puddles), and you can offer her some soaked mash.

Well I am going to give you some advice that my parents gave me, I pestered them all the time wanting riding lessons, a horse… but money was very tight for us growing up.

My parents told me that when I got a job and started earning my own money I could get my own horse, and any other things I wanted.

You’re very fortunate to have riding lessons, and all the pets you have. Being an adult is hard, and we are just human, we have bad days and yep we yell at our kids. Sometimes the kids yell back

You have chickens and one on an egg and some in the incubator, that’s way more then I had as a child - count the blessings you have, and when you’re old enough to work and make your own money you can get all the animals you want

In the mean time cuddle all those ones you have and cut you dad some slack, you know when was the last time you just went up to your dad or mom and hugged them told them you loved them WITHOUT asking for anything ?

Ok young lady - how is Ms Bumblefoot doing? Have you been soaking her daily? And how is the wee mama to be (hopefully) doing?

Didn't wait for answer. She's eating. Still doesn't seen to want a drink.

If she is eating but not drinking you can try giving food with lots of water included. Things like fresh or frozen blueberries, watermelon, chicken feed mash. If you give her that sort of food she may get enough liquid in without drinking much.

I bought 2 of those Monday! Of course I have both over by Eenie, one with water and one with electrolytes. Guess I could put just one.

So...Sheba is more than content in her wet crate. She's dumped the food and water 3 times. I'm done. What do I expect with a brain the size of an acorn?

It's sooo hot. 103. But the other two seem better today.

I evicted Eenie. I'm not sure she drank, but she ate a bit, dusted herself, and pooped a giant poop. About 10 minutes later she went to the nest and settled back in.

Yep chickens are like that!

Glad they're doing OK with the heat. About the mouse trap in front of the nest boxes.....turn it around so the openings for the mice to go in are up against (along side) the boxes. Those traps work by getting the mice to run inside by running along their normal paths....right through the trap. Those paths are usually right against walls, obstacles etc. They're also supposed to sit with the lid on top. Mouse starts up the "ramp", ramp drops, mouse runs on in, ramp springs back up, mouse being stuck on the wrong side (inside). The mice like to hide under the ramp when opening the trap to get them out.....(and they cling hard: shaking the thing eventually makes them go flying....in random directions.....discovered the hard way).

I have exactly none of those. Wish I'd have seen this before my husband came home from the store. But I can make mash. I did hand feed her some meal worms, but sticking water literally under her beak fires nothing. But she seems to not notice the heat. She's very zen.

Saturday it's supposed to be 85. And rain.

Oh we got 5 the first time, with bait, and one today with no bait! I'm not opening them up... that's my husband's job. Pretty sure he's not doing a live release.
