It is time I go outside and snoop on Perdita. She came off the nest yesterday and stayed off for a good hour. That is normally my warning that things are going to start happening soon. Will update everyone in a bit.

I hope you can get some gravel in around where she is so her hooves can grip on to the ground

Well I would have to gravel the whole 2 acres of paddock I never know where she will fall down.

The stall has rubber matting and I use shavings and straw, the chickens LOVE to dig through the straw - they make a right royal mess in there - I make up a nice bedding for her and the chickens come along and dig it up, mixing it all around - they eat the left over grains in the straw heads. Mmmmmm yummmy!

Have you tried "Horse warming balm" too help the muscle? It has red vine leaf in it.

I have some nice liniment but she hates it, the 'heating' of it on her skin drives her mad. I use it now for treating any thrush (fungal infection) of the hooves, she also hates the smell of it haha.

The chickens run for the hills when I bring out the liniment I guess they hate the smell also. I was surprised to learn that chickens actually have a good sense of smell and taste!

My chooks have to stay in the coop/run today while I’m gone. I’m flying a guy to Sacramento airport. (Saves him the driving hassle.) And I can stretch my wings a little.

Tippy

Has started making more 'grup' hen sounds, she does that whining/honking type sound which is annoying as she won't stop it! Of course it doesn't help that she is sitting right beside me on the floor - yes the brats have once again broken into the office. and taken up residence by my desk chair.

That is Mary with the speckles. I think she is a Delaware.

Dawn is broody. Yes, this little chick, that was a pullet, is now broody. In her first year.

Uuuahhhhggghhh I already had a broody! I don't need another one!

No chicks yet per the hubby. But Sheba was in the nest box! About freaking time. They've only been laying for 6-7 months.

They are looking good and that looks like a perfect location to spend snoozing during the day, with your little elephant statue to keep then company

They really love going into the garden. As soon as I could manage it, it's bad when you're held up because of bad assistance.

They are back near their coop now and I've thrown them some treats around
