If you think you are now at the stage of palliative care, you could keep her energy levels up using honey water, Nutridrench, or Gatorade all of which she might drink on her own without the tube or syringe.

I will do a separate post on tube feeding supplies for anyone who wants to keep things in stock.
The stiff syringe is a common problem when you reuse syringes. They are manufactured for single use and the rubber ring wears out after 2-4 uses.

Try lubricating the rubber ring with vege oil prior to use. It helps but may need to be repeated regularly.

Thank you, I need to read up on it to learn more. One thing about your experience with the plunger getting stiff although easy out of her - you might be going in just a bit too far and it’s pushing against the crop wall?

I use Mineral Oil or Petroleum Jelly as a lube for the syringe to reuse them. But eventually they just don't work and need to be chucked.

Have the two bad boys locked away, at first everyone was visiting them and wondering, I am sure why they were in there. Now everyone is just carrying on.

My niece's hens are roaming about a bit more, and Mr P has been making the moves on them. The BR is in the Hen House on Marty's nest box much to her annoyance. The black hen Raven has been looking for a place to lay an egg, I told her she was on her own. Not sure where she got to.

Got a proper candler instead of just using my phone's flashlight. Seems I've got 4 more duds that were just too dark to see through. That leaves 12 quail eggs... They go into lockdown on Monday, we'll just see what happens!
