What’s going on? Well it’s only 4:51am there so guess your sleeping hopefully!I haven’t taken a single picture of my chooks today at all. It’s been a little crazy here.
No she and some others were killed, Momma Hen was found and she is ok.Is Chiquita okay?
What movie tonight? Mum was watching ‘When Fools Rush In’ Monday - that’s an old movie. It’s movie night tonight yay. Jaffar is ready for his movieand treats
That’s Wonderful so glad she seems to be improving. So much stress with pets, and kids! Need to have nerves of steel to deal with the sadness at timesThe BR girl is more alert and feisty. She seems to be slowly regaining strength and is moving her head a little more. After tonight's feeding when Lety put her in the box the girl was moving about and doing a little clucking. I think she understands we are helping her. When we speak to here she'll open her eyes and move around and sometimes make a little noise.
Oh no I am sorry about Brune, I don’t know how I missed this![]()
So angry, sad for Chiquita, and also relieved Momma hen is still there.
You must be exhausted and devastated by grief and anger.
Keeping you, your family and your flock in my thoughts.

I’m sorry for your loss. Louise was beautiful ! It seems like she had a peaceful passing, as peaceful as possible in fact : at home, with her flock, and mostly without pain, feeling safe and loved.
You and others who follow my thread know that I did exactly what you mentioned about six weeks ago, botch my first euthanasia at home. I wrote this about it ten days ago.
I have never seen that with any of my sick hens. I have only seen them check on the sick hen. Not once have I seen them attack an ill one. It's interesting how often we hear about hens attacking their ill flockmates
Agreed. Most of the behaviours have been reported by these factory farms, certainly the behaviour I have witnessed has been nothing like I have read about.I have never seen that with any of my sick hens. I have only seen them check on the sick hen. Not once have I seen them attack an ill one.
I believe that behavior comes from over crowded living conditions where they are just trying to survive. So many troublesome chicken behaviors are just a result of the terrible environments they are forced to live in. Chicken "farmers" report them and they have become chicken behavior facts. Proper care and conditions eliminate most if not all of these destructive behaviors.
Patsy went and sat with Daisy, the greatest hen ever, as she passed away. Lilly came by and visited as well but Patsy stayed with her.Aww, that is simply lovely. What a wonderful tribute to a special hen!
