Thank you for wanting to host some hives, and being aware enough of the danger your spraying might be, not to.

One of my neighbors wanted to host a hive. When the beekeeper found out there were farm fields near the property, he said no. The farmer does use Glyphosate.

Yes, those fields are next to my property. Bees will forage up to 1.5-2 miles, so I can't keep them safe from farm fields.

Wow they are getting so big! Not babies anymore, little ladies now ❤️

I try to spray in the evening when the bees are less active and returned to their hive.

Oh no! So sorry about this, I am really keep an eye on my gang wit regards to the vitamin situation.

Heat is bad in so many places - here it’s rain - it just won’t stop.
We lost the BR girl, didn't get the Selenium in time. Lost another EE hen to the heat Thursday. Lety is currently giving a supplement with the regular feed. Forecast calls for continued excessive heat. 🥵

Why can't you keep bees?

This is our first year, so we have very little experience. I've been posting about what experiences we do have on my Sally's GF3 Thread.

We have treated for varroa mites (a very bad bee pest; they changed American beekeeping when they showed up from Asia in 1987), and put on a honey super. A "super" is another box, put on the top.

You don't plan to get honey the first year. You need to leave 60-70 pounds for the bees to eat over the winter. We might get a taste...:drool
You can supplement with sugar water if you have too. Also want the hive somewhere sheltered from winter winds and where the sun can help warm the hive.

I found out that dryer sheets are made from polyester (one of my allergens). Now we line dry or use vinegar in place of fabric softener in the washer, and either wool balls (without scent) or nothing in the dryer (natural sunshine smells best, but dryer generates softer clothes)

Our 5000 btu ac for our dogs wasn't able to keep up with extreme heat so Lety had to swap it Friday for our 8000 btu unit thatwe keep as a backup for our house. Guess I need to insulate the outside wall of the dog room this fall. I may buy another window unit possibly 10,000 btu as a backup four our home unit. I will keep my eye out for a sale.
