I could debate this but I'm tired. The general rule is once they are exposed to an environment it's too late. Amount of time doesn't matter. You must assume exposure.

Now in reality there is something called infective dose. You can be exposed but not pick up a large enough dose for an infection to develop.

What that means practically is that when I had a respiratory infection going through my tribe I could try quarantine hoping that not all had received an infective dose even though they had all been exposed.

Sydney! 🥰🥰🥰

I wasn’t thinking of virulent pathogens (though infective dose is relevant even in Marek’s and Mycoplasma). I was thinking more along the lines of babies developing immune systems.
This is one example. The piece of sod in the brooder to get used to local strain of coccidia is another.

I put the mineral block out and got the feeder throwing corn so the deer, squirrels and dove in the area should be a little happier. It's only 10 meters from the feeder to the pond so they have easy access to water too. Been super busy with work but I have some fotos to post tomorrow.
This is super kind and thoughtful of you. The wildlife in your area just don't know how fortunate they are to live near you! :love

I'm hoping to see some great wildlife photos today of various animals visiting your buffet. (It is pony Sunday, after all - hoping work will allow a bit of time off for you to enjoy the visual results of your generosity)

Ohhh, yes - teach me more microbiology, please.

Though, I have to say, she looks a bit displeased about her snacking session being interrupted. :lau

Well, so much for catching Quartz this morning. The little stinker is still playing hop-a-long, but joined Storm and company just outside the garage door. When I came out armed with pellets, scratch, and some mealworms, Storm jumped up onto the bucket, right in my face. She went right back down, but clearly told me FEED US NOOWWW! Quartz hasn't been up that far since the injury, so I suspect some improvement. However, the attempt at taming/inspection got blown to bits. Will be doing the flockservations today to attempt in confirming the Queen.

My mum will be doing chores with my sister helping (or more likely BIL), and she is freaked out at the stamped of chickens in the morning! hahaha.

Tell her to unlatch the door, stand BEHIND it, then swing it open. They go OUTWARD not hook U-turns.
Oh ya - they fly everywhere hahaha - those youngsters more so, almost got smacked in the face yesterday when Little Grey flew off the stall wall, wow I can dodge pretty good - she flew over my shoulder :gigjust missing my head.
