I don't think my chickens can put their head on their wing like (piglet?) can do.
So wonderful.View attachment 3622143
My little Tina, she's up and running again
There is no way they could make the same money and see as many animals if they saw animals at home. My vet already only works 4 days a week. I can't see her doing house calls. In fact of I have an emergency I need to go to an animal emergency room to get help. Of course they don't take chickens. The visit in a car seems very strange to me too. Recalling how it was for us with COVID - couldn't they do more distance calls, and maybe visits at home for emergencies ?
They will be fine. It is always hard to watch them when momma abandons them - the pitiful peeps and such. The good news is they they are at least somewhat accepted by the flock and will grow into their own just fine.
She may still tolerate them hanging around her during the day (maybe, maybe not) One of my DCs that tends to hang onto her chicks for a while started sleeping with her flock mates at night, but hung with the chicks during the day for another full week (she finally completely abandon them when they were 2 days shy of 10 weeks old!)
Glad to see her up and about! Mine seem perturbed when I throw down new shavings and clean the coop up2fer Tuesday

Phyllis isn’t interested in being broody, because there’s no moneyIn my case, old age.
I do wish Hattie had raised chicks. I think she would have been a splendid mum.
No broodies here this year. It seems Phyllis is no longer interested.
