It is awesome. It's incredible how family can both be something terrible and so wonderful. I’m very happy for you !

It's pony Sunday and I had a happy pony surprise yesterday that I thought I would post about. It's a bit of a long story, I do have a few blurry picture in the end !

Some of you may remember when I first posted about the old abandoned horses that live on the other side of our mountain stream, about an hour walk away from us.

Then, in the beginning of March I found the mare dead. It was quite a schock.

Although there was talk of bringing another horse with old Gribouille, who was now alone in this faraway place nothing was done.

Yesterday I went running in a very different place above our house and saw that my neighbour, Amelia, had brought her cows in up there. With the cows in the park was a good looking black pony...but looking at him a bit more, I realised it was Gribouille ! I texted Amelia and she called me back right away. She explained that her cows had been on pasture for a while where Gribouille used to live, and that he completely adopted them and followed them everywhere. That decided her to do something she had been thinking about for a few months, which was taking him in with her animals and caring for him.
It was only ten days since he moved with the cows, but he looked like a different horse from last time I saw him. He has put on some weight, she grooms in every now and then so his coat is shiny, and I swear he had less white hairs in his mane than when I last saw him.

People in the village are talking about it because she did it without the authorization of the person who was supposed to care for Gribouille, our old farmer friend Gaston. They are at odds with each other, but he has never been to see the horses for years, and he was unhappy when I told the mayor the mare was dead in the irrigation canal because that meant he had to help deal with her body. So even though we don't always agree with how Amelia does things, she has our full support on this. I’m so happy Gribouille will be safe this winter.

And for donkeys hardcore fan, this is the mini donkey supposed to keep company to See you the Arabian horse, but he keeps breaking out under the fence to go where the grass is greener 🤣

This is amazing. What a wonderful story. I love when people do what is right regardless of the consequences. Thanks so much for letting us know.

@BY Bob

Speaking of Leghorns, how big would you say they are? I only ask because those Azurs are TINY. They weigh about the same as my silkies, not sure if they will get bigger as they get older, but they sure are small and petit.

I would have though Leghorns were a big bird and the Azurs would also be big.
I have Leghorns and they are tiny to say the least. Parmesan and Mozzarella are 3 and are still tiny. I don't think Grandma and Tony were this size when they were 3.

Jaffar!!! :th He’s very irritated with me because I fed him in the house. He sat down and rested for one hour. I took him back outside to be with his girls. (.wow, instant attitude change from tolerance to anger)
I’m inside the coop now, watching the chooks take their places above my head.
But ouch 🤕 Coco used me as a launching pad to take her place on the perch. (Her nails are sharp) !!

Thanks for the info. I was wondering as my thoughts were that they were more a dual purpose birds but seems not so.
