There is actually a mirror in the run but it’s tied on with wire. I’ll see if I can find a photo of it. There’s also a picture of a garden that they like to lick, but that’s secured with cable ties.

Different Night, Same Sleeping Arrangements

They had the same sleeping arrangements last night. I can't wait to get home tonight and watch them tomorrow morning. Some kind of shifting is occurring. This is the first taste of cooler weather for Maleficent and Aurora. I'm sure that is part of this.

I have a mirror I want to hang and I can't decide if I should hang it in the coop or the run.

Yep, they lick it! I got some individual fence panels, which had this picture on it. I was attaching some chicken wire to the bottom so I could fence off bits of the garden and the girls wouldn’t slip through the bars. I had the panels leaning up against the tree whilst I was doing this. Penny was still with us at this time and the girls would come and hang out with me whilst I was attaching the wire. They’d get behind the panel, all lined up in a row and repeatedly peck at the picture! When I looked closely I could see their little tongues coming out! So with the last one, I laminated the picture and attached it to the run. It’s faded a bit now, so I don’t know if it still holds the same appeal.

Different Night, Same Sleeping Arrangements

I have a mirror I want to hang and I can't decide if I should hang it in the coop or the run.

When I was looking at chicken mirrors, the advice was to not use a glass one in case they peck it. I made mine using acrylic ones I got from the local hardware shop, which are almost as good as glass ones.

We have the same sleeping arrangements again tonight. There has definately been some change while I was gone. Maybe Mal will whisper the reason in my ear tomorrow.

She’s in!

Charlie’s in the cage of shame. Lucy and Chickie have been a little concerned and are keeping her company. She’s on the ground but it’s windy today so I’m hoping that brings her body temperature down. If not, I can put her in a small cage tomorrow and elevate it.

I’ll see if I can upload the video of them licking the banana lounge; they do it to the packaging around the straw bale and wood shavings as well. Must like the feel of the plastic.
