Blue kote has antiseptic/anti-microbial properties, plus it is a blue-ish purple color, as opposed to the red skin, and red attracts pecking, so it might help. However, it can be drying - but it is definitely a good thought - as it would make the area 'less interesting' for other chooks to peck, so would definitely be worth a try!
But, you end up with a big blue bottomed baby! Bbbbbbb🤪

Sounds like a lot of obstacles!
Nice scenery there!
It's an adventure. Middle kid had to work today so drove in by himself. Got messages from him when I got back from the school: dark pics and a help message. He hit a patch of ice, slid off the road, then rig (empty, thankfully) slid some more. Tree caught it. He's home and fine, tow truck is fishing it out, don't know what sort of repairs he may need. He's still learning how to drive on icy roads. Snow had lessened to almost nothing while we were heading out to get him (discovered he'd gotten a ride home, leaving his phone in his rig). It's thickening up again, so hoping it's not a hindrance for the towing.

Edit: and the tow truck just pulled in, still driveable.

CeeCee is still proud of herself from last night. After the possum was disposed of we put her in the house and tossed it on the hill. Came out earlier and when she was let out this morning she went on the hill and brought home her trophy. I see now I am going to have to bury that thing. She also clearly has a pattern now when it comes to disposing of vermin. She has killed 2 huge rats and now the possum. Each time she has essentially broken their backs and then carried them to the creek to drown. I have to admit I am impressed with her methods, they are efficient. She has never to my knowledge met a coon, although if the opportunity arose I would sic her on one. She does watch the sky when the hawks are overhead. I do not think she would bother them, as she was scolded and discouraged as a pup from even looking at the chickens the wrong way. Momma hen reinforced chickens are off limits when she flogged her for simply walking by her chicks when CeeCee was about 9 months old. Coyote's are different. She has chased one out of the yard but was called off. Those devils are as big as she is and most times never travel alone. I think she could handle herself with just one, but would be no match if she met up with a couple of them or a entire pack.

Some more pics! My younger ones are all like 11-12 weeks? I've had them 10 weeks. The new ones definitely act like older pullets, they are already taking charge of the flock.

Pretty sure she has Polish, she has 5 toes too so polish silkie mix?

And this one also has 5 toes. She looks like a less whispy Silkie. Both new girls are bok-bokking with no peeps.
And here's the original four.

Liara is the oldest.

Shep didn't even want to be petted by the kid this morning, she's so confused.

Here she was this morning asking if I had brought any snacks.

And Thane, who the new girls have pretty much left alone. Hubby says it's because he's a boy and therefore not competition in the pecking order. 🤷
At 10+ weeks, Thane is a girl. The comb would be larger and RED. That looks like a girl's comb color/size, even if it's larger than the others.

And the 5 toes is a silkie trait. Also a Houdan and Dorking (both no feathered feet), and a Sultan and a Crevocoeur (spelling?) (With feathered feet) for the 5 breeds with 5 toes.

Good for her! Effective methods are good.
