I want to do plexiglass panels but it’s not in the budget so I got this stuff that I will attach with washers and screws: View attachment 3671480
Oh yes, 6mil poly is very heavy and will do fine - that is what I hav here and will do the wind beak with. I will attach it to a frame with strapping screwed into it - the gateway is a high wind spot, snow blows great huge drifts there.

I will keep the bird netting I have there to keep the kiddos from flying over top. Today I had to go chase the brats back into the barn they once again flew out of the run.

 :he

Hello, FBA !

Ditto. We have a lot of heavy winds here so I’m still wondering whether just zip tying shower curtains and putting weight below would be sufficient. My run is against our house, so one side is completely sheltered from wind. But I still remember the day we put on our brand new polytunnel and hadn't finished filling up the trenches on the side before night, and woke up to find it got half torn off and two hoops broken😬.

They are getting very pretty boys ! How big are they ? It's hard to get an idea of size on pictures.

@Lexicon how is Cesario s leg, and how did he take spending the day in the crate ?

Catching up pony Sunday yesterday. The last lambs for the season and my neighbour's highland cows enjoying for once british like weather.

After a few gorgeous but windy days we are getting rain today so some of my mugs are a bit grey. The sunny ones are from a few days ago.

Lulu, late in comb development but the most chatty of the pullets.

Gaston is molting from the neck and the tail and he looks so skinny ! He seems in good shape but he has a horrible rattling sound in his throat. I can't see anything looking in, so it must be respiratory - but he doesn't seem to be bothered. Not sure if I should do anything.

Pied-Beau. The first rehoming was a failure, so we will switch to another option and he gets to spend another two weeks with us 💚.

Laure. Where did she get a huge comb like this I wonder !

Sorry about Pied-beau, that sucks! I feel your pain though with regards to cockerels 😟

I plan to use 6mil ploy and strap it to a wood frame, but I am only going to make it about 5’ high the height of the gate, it’s also 16’ long so it should be a hood wind break.

All of them are pretty darn big and apparently they will keep on growing for a while yet. The chicken they are dwarfing is a fully grown Welsummer hen, granted she is molting currently but still 😂

Pine trees sound like that, too!
The sighing of the pines... beautiful sound. :)

I think my shower curtains are 6 mil. My prevailing wind is from the west, so that helps: It's blowing the shower curtains against the fence. I have the over laps so that the opening is to the south, as north is my next most prevailing wind. We do get wind from the south, but usually less strong and less often. Southwest is the most worrisome direction.

But at 15-35 degrees F, any wind feels chilly. When it's colder than that, they mostly stay in the coop.

And some of our lovely colors. Yep, that dying oak will be trimmed as soon as dad can get the limb cutting machine from his job.

We have mostly Oak out here, I'd love to plant some aspen or birch but dad says the roots are too shallow to have near the house. They sound amazing in the wind though, like a waterfall!
Aspen run and suckered EVERYWHERE. All the little shootlets in my yard are aspen.
