That's a splendid idea. I'll check that out when this winter has passed.

As o have said my body isn't up to harsh weather and heavy jobs anymore.

This morning has been heavy I've had to completely scrub out the coop again, which was done recently but due to Tina passing I had to make sure princess is safe. It was extremely painful but done now.

I've given a quarter of the wormer I mentioned to princess with pumpkin and a little beef with carrot.

We have to keep her away from the back area when we Bury Tina. My friend is coming to help, I can't dig at all.

Princess hasn't had any amoxicillin but I hope this will help her is the wormer doesn't help.

I would really appreciate @BY Bob input on penicillin treatment.

Right. I don’t think you fence the coop. You fence the area that the chickens roam in. Maybe that’s your entire property, maybe a swath of it. You don’t seem to have much aerial predator harm, it’s land predators, Mainly domestic dogs.
It’s like defensive driving. You can’t control other people and their pets doing things they shouldn’t. You take measures to protect yourself against the odd occurrence.
Comprehensive, uninsured motorists, and very high medical risk insurance is what I carry! :old

@BY Bob

Please read my message 🙏 ❤️
What would you be giving the antibiotics for? I can't speak for Bob, but I think I understand a lot of his thinking on this topic. Treating her without a diagnosis is probably not a great idea. Antibiotics have their own side effects so better to reserve them for something serious.
Is she actually poorly? I thought she was out and about doing OK.

Electric fence for the whole perimeter paid for by the neighbors. I sound like Trump building the wall!!

Her 💩 has been sloppy.

I'm just trying a wormer first . She wasn't eating but she started since giving her the wormer this morning.

I've given a few black soldier meal worms and a few sunflower hearts. Because she's eaten her food for me .

I have some sweet potato here. I just need her to eat.

She had a lovely fresh coop for tonight and I'll add those hand warmers to keep her warm.

Eggsactly!

😆

I agree. Either the dog has to be properly contained or the neighbor should pay to protect the chickens. High voltage is the best way IMHO.
I love electric fencing it’s relatively inexpensive and easy to put up.

Awww, she tucked all these eggs nicely under her. She's gonna be a good mama.
Yea she is a good mama she has already hatched 4 eggs before, Rose and Dorothy are from that hatching.

Okay this is harsh but so many people think that their dogs can just run loose, especially out in the countryside. The neighbors all around you should be paying for you to get an electric fence, either just wires if that will work for coyotes and dogs or a poultry netting fence. That would be proper consideration.
There's a big part of me that agrees. One of their dogs was on the deck. It's not OK to allow your dog up to someone's door in town unless you're going to the house to see the people. It's the same concept here. The fact that they once lived in this house doesn't change that. Thank you for helping put the thoughts into some coherent words.
