I won't forget to eat lunch. Why? Because these birds know when I eat my lunch and come after me if I don't get it in time.

They likely were chased there...Dogs might smell the chickens plus the pup and be attracted up there.... Dogs roam....They want to check out their stomping grounds, if they had lived there before, and if not, they don't smell a reason not to explore. The gun - all the attacks have happened when you're not there it seems, or have you been there?
Frequently someone has been home. The deck, one of the kids saw it from the living room. None of them have lived in the house for at least 6 years, and all the dogs are younger than that.

Sherlock's vet doesn't want to "fix" him until he's at least a year old (or we can't stand the not fixed behavior). I grew up with not fixed male dogs, so I'm kinda thinking of taking Sherlock on property perimeter walks so he can mark his territory once he starts that. Not sure how much that will help, but should be of some help with regards to the "fixed" dogs.

Princess has gone
Oh this is sad news, I'm so sorry!
Those dogs would silently disappear one evening. I hope you had words with your neighbour about that situation? I would have also contacted to animal control, imagine what they might do to a child 😳😳😳

Farmers around here have 0 dog tolerance, strays are shot, most have cattle dogs or dogs that they keep for security. And those dog do not roam and are very well behaved.

My Friends Pit cross bit me twice, my neighbours dog attacked my mare when I was out riding one day, it cost them $700 in vet bills - a hefty bill 30 years ago. I have had neighbours tell me my horse enticed their dog to attack me - I was calmly riding at a walk down the road. Oh it goes on and on.

I have a love hate relationship with dogs. And I expect dog owners to make sure their dogs behave 100% - visitors are welcome to bring their dogs here, but if they do one thing out of line they are asked to never bring the dog back here again. My mum gets mad at me but hey my horses cost me a lot of money and vet bills even more so.

Now that I have my chickens I am extra paranoid about dogs - no dogs are allowed near the barn at all. Nope zero permitted.
No idea who the beagles belonged to, though now I know who to ask. Beagles will go for miles, and back then they didn't have the tracking collars.

Chicken tax - I got more ambitious, after the last rain. Want to raise the whole floor, not just the west side.
About two thirds done here in the second 6x12 run, trying to make them set well enough and reasonably straight and level. Standards are not too high though, and there were some limitations to work around.

Chicken inspectors in this before pic below - I had laid it out first to see if the ideas would work and things would fit, made some changes and now I'm setting & leveling them, more or less. And cleaning off poop and trying to kneel in between poo spots!

You’re really raising the roof there CB! :D

I'm so sorry. :hugs

I'm happy they're doing well. How sad for the others though. I love dogs, but I don't trust them around chickens.

I have her secured away from the others for now.

Eenie seems okay. She's spending more time in the little coop than I'd like. But she comes out to eat and she seems okay. I'm not seeing any signs of infection.

All alone with the other 3, Tres seems to be getting bullied. :( Manny pecks him viciously if he comes within 2 feet. He's looking really unhappy.

I still think both roos are going to go. I know what will happen...but I'm telling myself they'll be enjoying life on a bachelor farm.

Daylight savings is making the days really short. Eenie isn't laying. I suppose that's normal, given her injury. Her body is healing instead of trying to make babies. Meanie is laying about 2 out of 3 days. Sheba continues to be my rock star. I get 13 eggs out of 14 days now. They may be small...but they're plentiful. After all my worry about her, she's still quite the hen.

They'll all be happier as single ladies though, I think.
Yes, my ladies where very happy when I got rid of the first batch of Roos, when I got Mr P I was extremely worried but he has been simply wonderful.

I won’t have any more Roos here - I really lucked out with Mr P (thanks Bob ❤️ for pushing me to get him), the girls like him and he likes them 😊
