Tedi and Diane Ida at sunset. Anna's tail just visible. Tedi's got one lone tail feather.

Taxes or not, we’re here for the chicken pics!

Thought they might enjoy learning about their ancestors while snacking on grit and oyster shell

I’m pretty sure it holds 6? I had no choice but to buy it. I didn’t even see it until after my mom bought it. I really hope that it does hold more than 2 chooks or I’m gonna throw it in my pond for the little alligator.
It might say that it holds six, but the dimentions are 2’x3.4’. That’s 6.8 square feet of space per coop. And the oft quoted starting point (yes, husbandry and keeping style should be taken into account) for coop space is four square feet per bird.

If it’s on its way, then it’s on its way. :confused:With just a little over one foot of space per chicken inside, it probably means that they will boycott and choose to roost in the run.

I’ve not taken a super close look at it. I might just insinuate the run and make it part of the coop, because they’ve been living in a huge run for their whole lives.

But that sucks that it’s small. I certainly want my chooks to have a ton of room.

In your shoes, that’s what I would do! Make the run comfortable for them- loads of wind block and roost options.
But also if I were you, I would post a photo of that alligator 😯

Hey I don’t make the rules, I just post them when needed 😁

By Bob set the rules long ago 💕❤️.

I for one love seeing the tax photos - Alex knows what I like ❤️ Rocks, and wattles 😊
The tax due for opinions is a disincentive then; if only one person answers you'll never know if there is a consensus or not! :old

Taxes are the only way we keep this thread focused on chickens.
There are plenty of general chat threads for those that don’t want to post pictures of their lovely chickens!
So why am I getting taxed for answering a chicken question that is looking for a consensus of opinion? Tax collectors gone wild I say! :old

Interestingly, the referenced post was not revolting against taxes.
It was exploring the nuances of what constitutes an “opinion poll” versus a “duplicate response” when someone asks a question. And then whether both of those should pay the same tax. One might get fewer responses to a Poll if it required tax, however I’m sure most folks think the SHRA tax is valid.

Getting somewhere here, thank you.

The definition of SHRA is not understood correctly by some tax collectors :old Or, the definition should be changed if it is so broad.

Questions of fact versus questions of opinion. As in: "Did Pastel get a new coop?" answered by ten posters. Not particularly useful. Versus "I'm worried about Sylvie, what do you think?" answered by ten posters. The range of answers there or even the agreement between the answers is quite useful.

If the second question is looking for a general consensus, one answer does not satisfy that: If someone agrees with the single answer, how will anyone else know they read it and agreed?

This is the coop I’m getting. Just there’s two 😳View attachment 3688098
I'd have to see it online, where's the ventilation, on the hidden sides? You could add it yourself, and put an eave or some weather protection over it. You'd want the run to have some better cover against rain from the sides, but you're in a warm climate and you can add that when needed maybe. This is a sleeping coop only, right?

Two for Tuesday.
Will we be laying this fall girls?

The cochin sisters. After a health scare where I thought I would have to loose Grouchy Gryffin. I am happy to report she snapped out of it and is as grouchy as ever.

The darker and bigger of the two she relishes in her nightly ritual of trying to sleep in Russ's stall. She does this knowing I will move her allowing her to partake in her favorite activity. Biting me.
