Caught Mera in a nest box this morning. She deposited a lovely bronze egg. I discovered they'd been busy this morning. Looks like Shan has joined the ranks of grown ups. Hers is pinkView attachment 3689106

She's still a pullet until her first hatchday. Just as Tuff is a cockerel until that same time. (He'll be a hormonal idiot for several months beyond that, though.)

Hormonal idiot yep youngsters can be idiots for sure, even the hens!

I’m hopeful that this next statement is completely false: my girls have stopped laying completely. Because of molt season and winter coming on I guess. Eggs are needed more around the holidays than the rest of the year. Bad timing for shutting down production!

Need to have the holidays during the good weather in that case!
