Aw, thanks, Lozzy! I’m fine... for a few days there, I was pretty stressed we might have to evacuate, but at the moment, things are looking good. I’m so grateful!Hey Michelle, how are you going? Been thinking of you with all the fires going on.![]()
GORGEOUS!
Same here. Bob, you know I was a molecular biologist (but I only have a bachelor degree, so never held the title of “Scientist”) before my second child was born, right? I specialized in fluorogenic PCR assay development and had the good fortune of working on proprietary prototype instruments at two different companies... SO FUN. I still love science, even though I gave up that career 16 years ago and now I’m a glorified secretary (executive assistant) in public education.Bob, I'd love to read the papers. Can you share the refs in due course?
She was sold to me as an Easter Egger chick. I think she is Copper Marans x Araucana but I don't really know for sure.Hi ACM, is Edwina a pure-bred Copper Marans? Where did you get her?
Look at her go! So adorable. One Year Ago Today
As you all know, I like to do look backs. A year ago today was a very significant day. It was Eve's open heart surgery. We were so blessed that it all went so well. As proof, here is Eve from yesterday showing off her mobility.
Again, not sure. I think Pepper is Australorpe x Araucana. Her eggs are very slightly greener than Alice's. It is hard to tell them apart.Thank you! What kind of hen is Pepper with all that green? It is lovely. Edwina with the copper color is also lovely of course!

Edit:
I got her from the local saddlery /feed store. They keep their own birds
Both your black girls are lovely. I just want to reach through the computer and pick up and snuggle Edwina. It is so hard to photograph a black chicken. I have over a 1000 pic's of my marans and Toothless for that matter for just a few good ones. One's where their colors really shine through because as i've learned, there's more to them than just a black chicken. If you look and get them in the right light they sparkle like gemstones.
I’ve been checking out Libby’s Heritage Chickens in Tahmoor...![]()
