I have seen both responses. I once posted a video of them all frozen by an alarm that Aurora gave. It was amazing to watch them wait for her to give the all clear. She also kept doing this low growl to tell everyone it was not clear. Mine had to learn this the hard way just as this woman's poor chickens.

My chickens will do the growling thing along with a escort call.
I've found that a crowing noise helps call them down, especially if Agathae is the one making noise. (she firmly believes that I am a rooster. I can live with that).

Happy 2fer Tuesday everyone.
It finally stopped raining. Everything is either under water or a big sea of mud.
The sun came out this morning so hopefully some drying out will happen.

Happy Sunday! Everyone got out today. Within my yard I have a fenced off vegetable garden that I ferried Perry (?) over to. Well, she was getting along so well across the fence with the other youth (grooming along side them, synchronized scratching) that I thought I would invite them in as well- give them a chance at being a trio. She read them right; after this photo Albert used her meanest big girl peck to show her how unwelcome she was.

So Albert and Whiskey got kicked back out.

More likely they were showing her where she stood in the pecking order! I bet it won't take long for her to integrate. A few more days/1 week of side-by-side with a fence between them foraging - and then put in some obstacles and some perches for escaping and let them 'mingle' for a few supervised hours for a couple of days in the same run (neutral space like the garden! or free range) And before you know it, they will be a family - squabbles and friendly preening and sibling rivalry and all!

Interesting. I thought it was moving from you to me. It was snowing here first thing. Not anything to get excited about except that I had a dumpster being picked up and I wanted to fill it as full of junk as possible before they removed it. I got up at 5am and was out with my headlamp in the snow finding stuff to dispose of.
When the truck came he got stuck in the mud and ended up making a hell of a mess.

It’s good to trim back the vines, you will get more fruit and better quality. I was thinking of planting some grape vines I am not big on grapes but they would be a good shade plant and grow fast.

If you plant them in/next to the chicken run, they would certainly help you with any of the unwanted grapes!!!! - and thank you for the opportunity to help

Soooo…. I am NOT gonna catch up on three hundred pages of this thread… I hope everyone is well! Sorry that I’ve not been on here for four-ish weeks. I’ve been busy with school and all of that. I really do hope that everyone is doing just fine, and that your chooks are happy. Ponypoor, how many chicks did you hatch? I scrolled through one page since I left and I saw the little white chick. Is she still alive? Any more siblings?

I’ll try to be on here more. I am looking for some Polishes, but it’s so hard to find them.

And it’s raining outside (hard rain) . I won’t be going out to cut grape vines today! I’m wondering if Sir Jaffar appreciates the fact that he’s warm and snuggly in the house with me this morning?
