Lety did well in choosing to keep this Tom. I love his coloration. He's an easy going fella and even sits on the nest occasionally to give the broody a break. He's not aggressive towards people either.
Beautiful Turkey 🦃 I was almost going to get turkeys instead of chickens when I started out.

We don't eat any of our birds but if it was solely for meat I'd raise a small flock of turkeys. That been said I love our variety of chickens. It was sad to lose my oldest rooster recently but we have and idea of whom we'll move into his flock.

Tax?

Always sad when we lose one. It’s always the best ones that go away.

Newton our golden chewed the runner off the rocking chair one night 😳 and the window sills on our floor to ceiling windows….. one day he tried to eat an electric fence insulator - that was still attached to some electric fencing the horses knocked down (ok ya I laughed poor Newton).

Yep golden are wonderful.

Have you ever thought of getting a rescue? There is a golden rescue here should be same down there…
When the time comes I have no problem getting a older rescue. I have a soft spot for the oldies and their white faces. Thought about it before we got gracie but none were available. Actually we were not planning on Gracie per say. Mom knew of a litter and watched the pups. Thought about contacting them but decided it was not the right time. All the pups were placed and then a little over a week later she saw a post about one of the pups needing rehomed and rehomed in 24 hours or being took to the shelter. She did not bring it up with dad or anyone and went to visit the person. Came home with Gracie in tow covered in fleas so bad she had chewed off the lower half of her tail fur. Everyone was happy, except dad. He was then a 1 dog at a time and 1 only person. Divorce threats ensued a few times over the next few days but Gracie quickly became his dog.
