Ooooo Pretty Hen is looking wonderful, she is really wintering well isn’t she - how old is she now?
She is 5 and a half. On damp days she doesn't move much because of the arthritis. If it's windy she just stays inside all day. But she is enjoying this warm spell.

It’s the chicken poop that really gets me, super slippery on those pavers haha, I slid on a real good one on Sunday and just about took a fall - and last night someone plopped a juicy cecal poop all over poor Truly’s hay net, they must have flown up on the stall wall and did that
:sick

Of course I didn’t see it and I was opening the top and got poopies all over my hands - I went through quite a few disinfectant wipes and paper towels cleaning that up - yuck! Ewwwww!

If it was summer I would have just taken it down and hosed it off and washed it, but winter is hard to do that.

Can’t have my horses eating chicken doodoo!
Well the chickens eat horse doodoo so I'm sure they are just returning the favor.

Peavey Mary hasn’t yet posted their catalogue for Chick Days. I plan on ordering some Brahma and I am hoping they will offer some Appenzelle Spitzhabin (spelling?), their site will be up next week they say.

That's like the first sign of spring in your parts, right?

The times I have broken eggs in my pockets I really cannot count. Sitting on them is the worst, that cold yukky realisation :barnie
Ewwwww - sat in chicken poop a couple weeks ago - thankfully it wasn’t a cecal poop 😆

She speaks truth. It only takes once.....🤦‍♂️
I am waiting for that day, I had a carton of eggs in my desk chair Sunday, and almost sat on that 😳

Yes ordering chicks is usually a sign of warm weather to come, I know Freys Hatchery here doesn’t start hatching until March for chicks. But you can preorder now.

I didn’t know till last year that Peavey sold chicks in store - oh I knew the other feed mills bring them in from Freys Hatchery, preordered.

But getting from the US?! I am quite eggcited! Maybe next year I can talk Peavey into expanding to Cackle or McMurrays, who have an awesome collection.

I think because TSC used to be that store and Peavey bought them out, they still use their suppliers, they likely have a license to import day old chicks from the US as a large supplier.

Freys, they carry a small selection of meat and egg birds only, nothing ornamental.
