That was funny but how can I laugh at lovely Hattie?!
Should I put up this photo instead?

Bernie and Babs (aka The Odd Couple) were together with Sylvie on the same branch but far away.
Everyone else being pecked by Piglet on another branch.
My branches are supported by brackets so the top of the bracket provides a roost or passing spot at 90 degrees. And Babs, but only Babs, seems able to walk along the top of the flat panel heater. She is a tightrope walker and one day will probably leave home to join the circus!

Beautiful Babs.

She really is that beautiful. I know. I've met her in person.

Yesterday I was going to mention what happened to me. But I didn’t. So I’m telling you now. I was sitting near the coop door watching the birds kicking around in the yard, when I felt a sudden drop of water on my shoulder (little more than a drop) I looked at my jacket and then looked up into the trees. There I saw several blackbirds 🐦‍⬛ and I could swear that they were laughing at me! “Hey Pete, watch this shot!”
“Nice one Sam, perfect trajectory!”
:rant:sick
That's so icky :gig :gig :lau:lau:gig:gig:lau:lau

I think the issue is me and whether I could every really cope with them. The best model would be to give them shelter and feed and let them loose. This means they will likely come back now and then but mostly live wild. A bunch will get taken by predators - especially if raising young on nests - and if numbers get too low I restock.
I can cope with all that nature in the raw that goes on for truly wild creatures.
I couldn't cope with that for my chickens or my cats.
Somehow Guineas would be a bit in between and I would have to learn not to fall in love with individual birds and not get stressed out that some go missing.
Not sure I can do that.
I also don't think you could avoid becoming attached. It's not in your nature.

Sir Jaffar won’t leave Dakota in peace. He was out in the coop crowing at her while she was in a nest box. I took him away so she could lay her egg in silence.
Dakota left the box and started putting wood chips on her back. Funny watching them do that.
Now the roo is inside the house with me.
Update: no egg was found :(
