I tried it out on him, but he ignored me. Then I said “Wyandottey” and he responded :idunno
Wyatt is closer in pronunciation to wyandottey....he may respond to it....then again....he might be a bit of a "contrary cuss" ...and you'll need to name him that just cause you'll use it so much...

@featherhead007

I tried to get a good photo of our Royal Canadian Air Force aerobatics team the Snowbirds - there is an air show this weekend and they were out doing their pre show show off / practice today.

They put on a really nice display.

I took this while at work, they were flying over the office and doing maneuvers out over the lake.

Nothing worse than an arrogant mosquito practicing maneuvers!
“Go Maple Leafs!”:lau

I took her outside. But soon as she was on the ground, a big fight broke out. Nasty fight. I didn’t want that to happen. :barnie
Ya - going through that right now with my 2 broody brats and mama Curly.

Though have to say they all seem to have settled down past couple days. Haven’t had a fight since Wednesday.

Such brats!

Wyan for short (like Ryan) :D Something will eventually work out for him I'm sure -- you sure gave us fun naming him!

We came up with 3 Asian names for our 3 newest Silkies before picking up the chicks from Buckaboo Farm but decided one would be named after two dear relatives instead.

The pretty Blue was named "Betta" and happened to be a combo of my sister's & niece's names. They had been after me for years to name a chicken after them :D. I told them our prettiest one was named after them.

BETTA -- means "pledged to God" in Hebrew/Latin/Swedish
BETTA 6 03-24-2024.jpg

"MIKA" -- means "who is like God" in Japanese & many other languages -- Black/Dark Partridge
MIKA 19 03-24-2024.jpg

Keiko, our 3rd newest Silkie, loved to eat and eat as a chick & DH called her Miss Hoover cuz she polished off food faster than a Hoover vacuum. Then when her Moorhead Partridge colors feathered in DH said "You mean like Agnes, Agnes Moorehead from Bewitched?" So she was Agnes for a while! She is such a funny Silkie I called her the Clown. Because we adored her entertainment so much her name is permanently "Keiko" now.

"KEIKO" -- means "adored one" in Japanese & several languages.

Who knew picking out names for chickens would be so much fun?! I gotta get a life!

I like seeing those big jets fly over - freak the horses out and send the chickens running for cover.

I hope they have the Hornets (? Is that what they call them?) fly over tomorrow. They usually make their run from Borden out to over the lake, then loop back for a couple more passes, my place is right on their flight path, extremely noisy!

Last year the poor chickens stayed in the barn after they flew over. Terrified them! Darn huge turkey vultures hahaha!

We usually share in the naming process here - but I did name my two chicks last November myself - Betty after Bobs frizzle polish who passed, and Bert because if they were two boys they would be Ernie and Bert 😊

My Buff Orps were a collaboration - Butters is Rebecca’s BO hens name that passed, and Jaffarra I named after Alex’s Roo Jaffar who passed. Pepper I just started calling her that so it stuck, Cayenne was suggested by bgmathteach, and Goldie from Greg’s hen Goldi, and Sweetie I kept calling her that.

My latest chicks have no names yet!

Lavender Orp and a Midnight Majesty Marans.

Suggestion anyone?

How cool is that to have fancy jets in your flight path! We live next to a freeway and our flight path overhead is just news helicopters covering traffic news! They fly so low and vibrate the house but our hens are so accustomed to the noise and the noise of 4th of July illegal fireworks they don't bat an eyelash!

But we do get beautiful Stealth Bombers fly over our house once a year when they display over the New Years Pasadena Rose Parade. Such a RUMBLE!

Violet or Periwinkle for Lav Orp
Mystique or Magic for Marans
