Hmmmm interesting, I have not seen a Henny do this, but my nest boxes are enclosed so maybe she is making the nest reinforced so chicks don’t stray out.
I took the front of the nest box off so the chickies could get in and out easily. Maybe you are right

This will be fun. Are you sure? I'm really antsy about continuing to disturb everything this close to hatch.
@RebeccaBoyd we got her off the nest, she had herself cleaned up pretty well but we wiped some areas that looked they might be sticky.

That was one mad hen. We put her down and went to work on the nest. I took all the eggs out, restrawed the nest, and went to work on the eggs. Aurora, Hattie, Lady Featherington, and Sydney were all yelling at me as I did this.

I had 4 of them as clean as I felt safe doing when Lady Featherington decided to get back on the nest. Except she decided that she would just take Glynda's nest. A fight broke out. Glynda was not having it and got Lady Featherington by the comb. There was a struggle and I became seriously frightened that more eggs would be broken.

I reached in and Gynda let go to attack me. Lady Featherington got away and I closed the nest box lid. I finished cleaning the egg as best I could and when I opened the box to replace the final egg Lady Featherington was back on her nest. I tucked the egg under her and I was out of there.

I'm still shaking. That was the most nervous I have ever been. Driving over 150 mph was easy compared to this. I was so worried about cracking or breaking an egg.

It's done. I really need everything to go smoothly from here. To be safe I moved Phyllis to the Cluckle Hut. She will be sleeping there from now on.

Good job, well done. They sure can cause quite the ruckus can’t they? Broodies they be bat crap crazy!

Ok time to sit and wait - I finding waiting to be quite onerous personally.
