Hope her feet weren’t poopy like Sweeties were yesterday when she hopped up on my shoulders and tried to get on my head. I could smell the cecal poop on her feet.
:sick
Listen, the poop 💩 comes with the territory. If people can’t stand chicken poop, they shouldn’t have chickens.
If people don’t like children’s poop, well…..,, goes for that too

Truth be told, I wore my best dress shirt to church, not knowing that one of the chooks crapped down the back of it. I was only inside the coop for 3 minutes and then… yuck 🤮

Good post Alex, very true. Even a 3 yr old has more understanding than we give them credit for.

@SimpleJenn I would explain the issue and that they will likely ‘not continue to develop’ due to high temps. No need to use words like die.

Also teach her to check that the dial is set properly after each meal and before bed. If it isn’t she can run get you to reset. Explain she cannot touch it herself as she is too young to take responsibility for it. But she is old enough to look and see and get help if needed.

We always had the youngsters involved in every aspect of the animals here from birth to death. My 3 year old niece remained and helped when my small animal Vet came to the house and put our old old golden down. She also helped bury him, making sure he had his brushes with him.

To this day she is very practical and has three cats ♥️

Phoebe, Bill and the wee grey one I can’t remember her name - aren’t they the strangest looking cats?! Well Bill is normal 🥰 oh Cloe that’s the grey girls name. View attachment 3892413View attachment 3892414View attachment 3892415

Your niece has two hairless Rex kitties :).

Your two Silkies look like girls so far. The boys show darker streamer feathers on crest and tails at about 5-6 months. Juveniles are at such a humorous awkward-looking stage but are so darn cute to watch and interact with them,

Here's 3 Silkie girls we got in January this year at various juvenile stages. They looked different day-to-day growing up so fast! The girls keep a round poofy tail all through their development.

First day home -- 3 DNA-sexed females -- there was some age range of about 3 weeks but they got along well with each other.

The 3 girls on June 30th. As babies we never expected these girls to develop into such vibrant colors.

A Silkie cockerel we had in 2011 sporting darker streamers in crest and tail while his sister was less colorful and had her round poofy tail. The cockerel also developed a larger walnut comb.

Can't wait to see your Silkies develop. Take pics often cuz they change so much day-to-day and week-to-week faster than other chick breeds!
