casportpony BYC staff deleted my double post. I have admired the very chicken knowledgable casportpony over these many years. casportpony has dozens of posts about chickens, diseases, surgeries, problems, etc, many posts. A real BYC angel!
Just a heads up: There should be a delete button on every post you post. If you push that and then push delete it should delete it without needing to report.

Those are awesome - I love that boiled egg holder so adorable! Thanks for sharing ♥️
TY! I think it's a little cutie too ~ & so functional.

After decades of trying to get a correct soft-boiled egg on the stovetop in pans of water and getting either undercooked or hardboiled eggs or split-open shells, I got the little Egg Genie as advertised on TV.

14 yrs ago it was no longer manufactured but when I saw one at a discount store closeout I grabbed the last one & not sure if subsequent Genies were made as good!

Perfect Silkie soft-boiled eggs once I figured when to take the little eggies out. Egg Genie is not as sophisticated as the many many modern egg cookers available today but for the years I've had it it's been wonderful & still works with minimal counter footprint unlike the modern cooker footprints.

Undecided on what exactly he/she is. Big legs and feet, but doesn’t crow and acts like a rooster outside, but like a loving hen inside. Maybe I have only one rooster after all? :idunno But it has a big fluffy butt. View attachment 3918551View attachment 3918552
From what a breeder told us is that cockerels develop their tail feather much later than pullets. But until an egg is layed it's sometimes later before one knows gender for sure.

Sherlock training has hit a major achievement: 2 consecutive mornings on a "Stay" command on the deck while I take feed out to the coop and open it. The Release The Horde is a major chase temptation. Add in his desire to be with his person (me) and its difficult for him to Stay anywhere. Yesterday took several attempts to get him to stay put (I'd disappear behind the bush on the corner of the deck and he'd move so he could see me. Back to try again.

This morning, he stayed in front of the door where he could see me once I got down the steps. I was even able to go into the coop to open the bird door and refill the bucket inside!

TY for the beautiful "rural" country scenes!

Yep, the last feather drop keeps me wondering too!

If it’s a he, then it sure acts like a she to me. It snuggles, coos, and acts daintily around me. It’s confusing 🫤

I wonder if that’s a silkie thing?

And my MM Marans Shorley, hasn’t crowed yet…. Meanwhile Mr Little Chicken is a screaming demon! He sure has turned on the hormones since Rosario arrived!
