It is perfect weather here today and Pooh is happy to nap in the sun.
Don’t worry, she only looks dead. Actually she is purring gently and soaking up the rays.

I love it when they purr (I call it 'coo-ing') It is such a lovely, peaceful, content sound!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰

DH & I can relate! Ginny has always loitered after dark cuz she wants to seek out the crickets that crawl out in the yard at night!
As soon as it starts to get evening here the older birds come in a start to roost, the teenagers next and the youngsters are of course the last.

It’s a big bonus having them in the barn, I leave the hen house door open and they all go to bed when they want.

My issue right now is Mr P needs to be kept separate from Bert, and Rosario from Mr LC, and the young hens like to pick at Mr P’s head and butt pin feathers coming in.

Just as well I keep him separated, once his feathers have grown out maybe I can put him back with the main gang. It’s such a worry with Bert though. 😞

Teehee! That scenario is precisely why we chose non-flyers for the flock. Bantams tinier than Silkies are notorious agile flyers!
Yes, Mrs Little Chicken is a splendid flyer, she can fly at least 150’ and make turns and land on a target with ease!

Her I worry about escaping, but she flies do well I don’t think a ground predator would be a problem, but hawks for sure.

Yea I have given some thought while mucking stalls - could be a whiting true green. As for the straight comb - well who knows.

I now more eggcited than ever to see egg colour.
Since it was from a private breeder, so it wouldn't be either a 'Whiting True Blue' nor a Whiting True green' as those are proprietary breeds. (McMurray lines)

We would need to see what lines/breeds the private breeder has, and then see who got into who's pen! :lau :lau

I am being held in place by a spoiled rotten teenager.

My leg is falling asleep! Help! 😁

They have decided I am a better place to be than the windy outdoors.

Haahahahaha yep very true!

We need to have an egg pool: guess the colour 👍

Gosh I can’t wait to see how many spots she gets when she moults - Buttercup gets more every year. She is more dark spots than white now.
