Aero is a special kind of chicken. She’s always been a favorite of mine. She can sense it when I want her to sit with me. She never argues, though she is vocal and I love listening to her talk about everything with me.
She’s that big soft butterball type of girl and she’s so lovely. To be honest though. Her vocals sometimes sound like a buck elk on mating season. That’s okay though, my rooster sounds just like a rubber chicken being squeezed! Go figure!

If she winds up laying blue eggs we will wind up swapping Phyllis for Versace and Gynda for Aster in a one for one replacement.

11 weeks ago I had 6 hens and 11 eggs nearing hatching. Today I have 4 hens and 2 pullets. How many of you had that in the pool?

Dozen eggs 2 chicks (whom I love to bits)

Rebecca had 2 dozen - only 1 lived (whom I also just adore).

We have animals, we know we have the heartbreak also.

You are a splendid chicken Hooman, your chooks adore you, and I know your moggies also adore you. We all live with the knowledge we have to let go at some point it’s sad but it’s a fact.

As I have said before, one needs nerves of steel to have pets and kids.

Is that like a stall rake for horse stalls? I should get one. Right now the pine just flies around when they flap. What flooring do you have?

Yes a manure rake.

I have brick pavers. I keep about 3 to 4” of shavings in the Hen House A and just a scattering in Hen House B (enough to absorb the poops). It flies around when they flap in there also (cough cough sneeze sneeze…), once it mixes with some dried poop it will settle down the dust.

Don’t use the ‘quick pick’ shavings - they are very fine.

Those are good shavings you have there. And I am sure they love digging and scratching in them
