And he needs a new handle! Wrangler - so bland! He need a great title!

well we get a new little guy too :3

This...this peaks my curiosity. Does this new little guy have a wild hairdo? Is he black, brown and white spotted? Does he have a fancy name?
So who is your new little guy?

Is it a pony 😉♥️

It’s 60f outside. I’m very cold inside. I haven’t changed the filters yet. So I’m using my portable hand warmer instead of the heating system.

What is it like having chickens in the house, for those of you who have house chickens? Is there a lot of poop to clean up? I'd be all for letting the chickens in the house sometimes. The rest of my family though... Absolutely not :barnie
It’s not for everyone. There is some poop, but I have chicken towels around the house and a special blanket on my bed and couch. But it is a good way to get up close and personal with your pets. Chooks also don’t destroy the furniture, like dogs and cats do. (Iguanas are fine in the house too) :D

If you read early on in this thread, Shadrack discusses chickens in the house - but his place at that time was designed for easy clean-up, as he intended to let the chickens in and out as they pleased. He even had a nest box set up in the house that they used frequently.

I have chickens in the house only when one is ill or something like that - and they are in a special crate or a box (except when I am holding them, or letting them snooze on my lap - or taking a nap with them on the bed 🤫), but these temporarily 'in the house' chickens, when I am holding them, are alway on a chicken towel (old towels relegated to that purpose),so cleanup is relatively easy...... shake the poo off into the compost pile, wash (I will wash them with my 'chicken clothes' - the equivalent of 'play clothes', but for cleaning and working in the chicken area - as they always get soiled!), and PRESTO no indication a chicken was there or went poo there! :D

:hmmWell except for the random feather dislodged when they shake...darn, caught again:gig

Good thing DH is patient and understanding:love

@lightm would be a really good person to ask, she has a house chicken because the hen went blind....so she transitioned from outdoor chickens - who only occasionally visited inside (except when being brooded), to having a permanent house chicken......

Thirsty Thursday, Mr silly stripes.
My 3 new hens should be ready next week too. The fibro egger has bumblefoot, the lady has treated it once but thinks it's coming back. Should I still get her?
The chicken lady I met yesterday says she can come help me treat it if I need help.
And I will be getting either 6 or 7 cockerels to eat, she thinks one of them might be a pullet.
