Poor baby probably needs an iron gate to keep her in? Do animals get dementia or Alzheimer's I wonder?
Yes, IMHO.
My dog has serious problems now. But I'm still keeping him as long as possible.
So I believe every living creature can potentially get one or even both

It’s the feed. I get problems when I buy cheap or feed that isn’t milled correctly. Remember, those people that do the milling are minimum wage workers
I have always paid for the best feed for my chickens and even princess being on her own. Yet it made no difference to the quality I received it was infested with rotten beetles or weevils. Which spread through my home and got into all of her foods. I've had to throw almost 15 kilos away because I can't risk her getting ill again.

They said it shouldn't make any difference because chickens eat bugs. But judging from how ill she became I just don't believe it.

Homes are money pits! Doors warp, plumbing starts to leak, windows let rain water leak in, floors chip, electrical wiring frays, stucco peels away, wood rots, kitchens & bathrooms need fixing every 10 yrs or sooner, should I go on? We remodeled our 65 yr old cottage in 2010 & in 2024 at 79 yr old home there's been massive problems w/ the new stuff already! Toilet replaced twice, kitchen granite top cracking, new patio roof repaired twice & still leaking, oh, I better stop! Too much to bore you all!

Tx
I'm so sorry you are up against all these repairs :(

I'm lost, where ever did that come from. I haven't seen any alerts
Well if you didn’t purchase it then you either won it for a contest (like those caption contest), or if you get 30,000 texts (seems I talk a lot!), or someone gifts it to you.

At any rate you have an opportunity to rename your title! Eggciting!

That’s why we are making suggestions for you ♥️

Thought y'all would enjoy this. So out chicks are still in the house, and just now starting to hop and fly about. Kids are at grandparents, pets locked up.

Note taped to the door says "check for loose chicks"

Lol
Welcome to Bob’s thread! We would all love to see some photos of those chicks (esp me I love babies) 😊

Tassels doesn’t even stop to eat. She rushes straight back to the nest.
Hopefully next year she settles down a bit.

I found with mine that during the first year they were all business ‘had to stay on the nest’. But they settled down the next year.

Meanwhile Curly is back in the nestbox and Henny is in there gifting her an egg. If it wasn’t for the Roos I would let her have a couple of the silkies eggs. But nope not happening. No more babies ever. Not even buying from Peavey Mart - getting Shorty was just an eye opener.

Oh, yikes. Poor darlings. Has a respiratory infection gone through your flock that could’ve caused a shell gland issue?
Well not that I am aware of. Other than Sophia being ill back in the summer everyone is acting normally- of course I have older ladies who are slow and rickety, but everyone seems to have acting normally.

Having said that it is migration times and I have seen ducks flying over and I know they can carry a virus chickens can get which causes brittle eggs. But I would think that something like that would go through the whole flock and cause all the eggs to be affected.

This morning I caught Topsy in the nestbox eating a brittle blue egg that broke in the box. Did she lay it? Maybe. I cleaned out the box and she was back in there when I left for breakfast.
