Sherlock looks so sad ~ Poor boy

Aren't Labs bred to carry birds anyway?

Retrieving shot game, a common wood pigeon
He's doing what comes naturally. He's a bird dog rather than a flock guardian dog but Labs are smart & many just want to please you by learning a lot of consistent commands. Depending on a dog's individual temperament some are excellent guide dogs. But at least 2 years of consistent training works well for those dogs w/ the predisposed temperament to learn & remember commands. He's a bird dog & will need consistent training to "Leave It" & "Stay" when around birds. It must be fun for him chasing after birds just like a jolly hunting trip!
