Ok, I'll give it a try. I can't think of every thing so I'm picking what we say most often.
Not all my chickens know their name, out of 14 I have 11 who do.

" Hé ho ! Y en aura pas pour tout l'monde !"
= "Hey ho ! Won't be enough for everyone! "
meaning : treats !

"Vite vite vite vite!"
= "Quick quick quick !"
meaning : hurry up, when they are slow to come.

"Tous à l'abri" with clapping hands.
= "Everyone hide"
meaning raptor just above.

"Bonne nuit, les petits c'est l'heure de faire le dodo"
= "Good night kiddos time for sleep"
It's their goodnight song.

"Rentre à la maison!"
= " Go back home!"
Meaning go back to the chicken yard when their are either wandering too far away or in a place they shouldn't be.

Then we have specific sentences that only one chicken understands.
"Gaston, laisse le petit coq tranquille" = Gaston, leave the small rooster alone"

" Théo, laisse moi passer"
"Théo, let me pass" (Théo is my bad tiny rooster and he tends to react aggressively when we come close).

"Théo mon copain !"
"Théo my friend" (trying for almost three years to convince him).

"Saucisse ! Descends!" = "Get down " to the chicken that jumps on the dining table.

" Mon Piou-piou !"
That's an interesting one. One of our favourite chicken is called Piou-piou, but my cat also answers to that name. So when my partner calls that out, both the cat and the chicken come running convinced they will be offered a treat. The tiny hen always chases the cat away !

Both roosters know that when I call their name clapping hands lightly, it means I can't find them, so they make a noise to let me know where they are.

Hope to hear some other answers !

I know wattle wednesday isn't an official FBA holiday but I thought Alba's comb turned out pretty funny in this picture ! Both leghorns are lightly moulting and they really need to, their feathers are completely shredded.

@BY Bob, I remember you asked when I got them. Since January 1st, Alba laid 291 eggs and Nieva 292. So that's not an egg a day like your leghorns or my ex-batt's but still very heavy layers.

This is SO interesting!!! Thank you for your input! It's not surprising that they're so intelligent and good at learning words since they're talking to each other (and us) all the time. But the extent of it amazes me!!!

So I was thinking a while ago as I was following the girls around the yard and talking to them... That this might be fun for everyone to think about and share:

How many words/phrases do your chickens know?

Here's a list of the ones I can think of off the top of my head,

They all know their names and I suspect they might recognize each others' names, too

"Girls" means I'm looking for/addressing them as a group and at least some of the time they'll look around when I call

"Come here/come on" means I want them to come here, obviously. I'm still working with them on this (sometimes I have to herd them over) but most of the time they come running, even if I have to call a few times

"Treat", they come running 😆 (well...unless they're busy with more important things) and they get very chatty

"Door" when they get stuck pacing back and forth at one wall of the run because they forgot how to get in/out. This happens often enough that they recognized the word by the time they were a month old :idunno

"Fresh water" is one of my favorites because they get SO excited 🤣 I don't blame them, I also love fresh water

"Ninight" it's bedtime. Most nights I sit with them in their run for awhile until they get in their coop and on the roosts, so this is another one they learned quick

That's all I can think of right now! Please do share yours, I'm very interested in this stuff :D
Many of mine know their name. Esp the older ladies.

Mr P knows the command ‘get back up their’ when I point to the roosting ledge at night. He tends to get down and chase the youngsters around when I am trying to get them to ‘go to bed’. I will tell him ‘get back up their’ and point to his spot on the ledge and he goes there (Smart wee fella - he gives me a dirty look and swears under his breath as he walks by to do my bidding).

They know the command - ‘go to bed’ means get in your respective home spot for the night.

‘Go home’ means get back to the barn/go in the barn. Everyone pretty well knows that one.

Mr Little Chicken knows ‘go get him’ and he will go running off to find Rosario and clobber him (poor Rosario! Minding his business and I tell Mr LC to go get him!).

‘COOL YOUR JETS’ - all the Roos know that one, it means stop chasing the ladies and back off. Clyde is the only one who doesn’t know it 100% which earned him a thump last night for assaulting one of the Buff Orps. He was dragging her by the wing across the barn floor! Bert should have stopped him but he was outside.

‘Run for the hills!’ Everyone knows that means run and hide. Having a sense urgency and screaming it gets them moving haha.

‘Would you like some meal worms?’ - only a few know that one, usually my ladies who are ill or who have been ill in the past.

‘Come and get treats’ - watch out for the stampede…..

Likely there are more they know but off the top of my head that’s all I can remember.

Me too 😊 I love this picture!! Pretty pretty bird!!

Gytha, Sybil, Aliss, Magrat... Where's Esme?

1000033391.jpg

Oh, she's scratching a few feet away. Alright. Carry on, girls.

1000033392.jpg

You're not going anywhere without me!

Now come back to the group and watch me scratch.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gaston does exactly that too ! Rumbles rumbles and does what he's told ! Making a sound like "paw paw paw paw" and looking offended.
Once he really starts fighting he doesn't listen anymore though !

Hahaha that’s cute, about Piou-piou and your moggy 😊

When I call the horses all the chooks come running - they know that Reenie is a messy eater and she will spill grain everywhere - the chooks learned they get free treats from her 😊

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hahaha oh they all sound alike too funny!

Yes same with Mr P and Bert, when they really get brawling they don’t hear me. I physically have to catch one of them to stop them. Boys!

I HAVE A STORY!!

Well, the other day I went into the chicken coop and just started hanging with them. Anyway, I noticed Crackle, my frizzle was missing. So I started calling her and I heard the smallest cheep. I followed where the noise came from and she was inside the food box!
The cheeky bugger had pushed the lid off and now was cheeping quietly in the hope of not getting caught!
