I hoped so. I thought maybe by the coloring I was right. Hehehe, it also means that due to that coloring being a dark brahma, for sure a pullet and I do not have another stray cockerel. Now the next big question. Little lady, are you a bantam and going to stay small, or in the next week are you going to shoot straight up and be a large fowl. I really do strongly suspect bantam though.
The other interesting bit: if she breeds with Randy, you could easily end up with more just like her except gold instead of silver. Roos would still be black breasted, and the red tones would likely be lighter than Randy's.

The cross I am now interested to see is with George. Partial crest and lightly feathered feet...but NOT A CLUE on their markings. (Might help figure out Mr P.)

Yeah, good luck with that. That involves getting Poppet off those eggs. I will find out for sure tomorrow, but I think she is maybe as tall as George, just stockier.
Brahma are slightly larger than Cochin in standard size, so in bantam size, I would expect (without looking it up) one to be about the same size as a silkie (supposedly the largest bantam). They are rather broad-backed...and sooooo sweet (haven't dealt with broody yet).

My brother is making a strong case to be George's #1 fan. He loves that little rooster. This is the first chicken I have had that he goes out of his way to interact with daily. We were discussing Christmas yesterday afternoon as he is trying to finish up shopping. I told him not to get me anything. I would know by Christmas if I had to go silkie rooster shopping or not. He informed me I did not need a silkie rooster I had George. Well, he called him by the name his gave him. He thinks I only need George and that I should set eggs from all my girls crossed with him. Let the afro's take over the flock as he put it.

Next lesson:

Lacing is the color going around the edge of a feather. Barring (or cuckoo depending upon the breed, dunno why on that) is white stripes across a colored feather. Penciled OR partridge (depending on the background color) are thin black lines around the feather WITH the background color going around the edge of the feather. When combined with lots of feathers, it looks like chevrons.

Just add to the confusion, there is a penciled that is a black stripe going across a not-white background feather (Cheetah is marked this way). Most of the feather patterns are black marks on other color feathers. Exceptions for barring, mottled and speckled/mille-fleur/jubilee.
So did I get it right - the new chicken has lacing?

Oh yes, this girl is definitely a bantam. She also could be close to laying if she is not already. Randy is very, very, very interested in her. Right now she is avoiding him.

She is smaller then Goose.
