All the kids were stubborn tonight about going to bed. They couldn’t decide which perch is who’s. Not good to be fighting 9 feet in the air standing on a 2x4

Coco is molting bad, but she’s very uncooperative with me about coming in the house where it warmer. Oh well. All the kids were stubborn tonight about going to bed. They couldn’t decide which perch is who’s. Not good to be fighting 9 feet in the air standing on a 2x4![]()

Every day I must take the Rockettes off the perches to eat and drink. Some reason they trust me to be their personal elevator to the ground floor. All this is because of mr Wyandottey. I take him inside and give the ladies a break.I hear you, bedtime drama!
Have to say - at the moment all my older ladies, and a couple of this years pullets and Rosario (smart boy) all go an roost in the Hen House. All the other pullets, Mr LC and Shorley all roost on the stall walls. I have to carry each of them into the Hen House B to roost.
This past week I have been keeping the lights off in the barn when I come home and bring the horses in. I use my headlamp for light. This way I don’t disturb the chooks roosting.
Then once the horses are in and settled I one by one carry those brats into the Hen House, and let me tell you, that Shorley is no light weight! I will try to get a chance to weigh him tomorrow. I say at least 12lbs.
Anyways keeping the lights off is great, they don’t get running about and getting under foot and causing drama.
Now if can just get those brats to go roost in the Hen House!
My older ladies also hide from the randy Roos. I would let them in with Mr P but there isn’t enough room in there for all of them. Once the Roos are gone it will be better for them.Every day I must take the Rockettes off the perches to eat and drink. Some reason they trust me to be their personal elevator to the ground floor.
