It's Caturday and this is my last on posting updates on him. He passed away wit stage 4 cancer yesterday.


He was buried today by my neighbour today. Where we use to hang out together when all my girls and my dog was with me.

I bought him a scratch post and play area my friend built it for him the night before he died, even though the wind and rain was horrendous. All worth it because he loved it and insisted on getting back up when I took him down, even though he he was in horrific pain

Oliver turned up to share aa meal with him last week, it was most unusual, it's almost like he knew he was ill. Pusscat was soo interested in food but with Olivers company he ate a little

Well, Ortho dr ofc finally got around to getting ins approval for arm surgery. Hey, my humerus has only been broken 8 months! But I have a bevvy of Dec tests, Xrays, labwork, & ekg to pass before actual surgery in Jan. Or what? They cancel surgery if I don't pass??

DH will be going back-&-forth between home & hospital to watch me & the hens. He's already been off work caring for me/chickens since May. This is really exercising the meaning of vows in action "for better or worse".

Prayers will be much appreciated .

Gosh sure hope you can get that arm fixed!

Today I figured I would put an extra roosting ledge in Hen House B.

So I placed a board as a bridge across the span between the two ledges - I can move it during the day to access the nest boxes.

Lots of drama tonight with the change of the sleeping arrangements.

In Hen House A everyone finally settled down, both Rosario and Shirley are roosting there tonight.

I put Mr and Mrs LC up on the door to roost tonight

I put Red in a nestbox,

Betty hopped in the back nestbox herself - smart girl!

Henny hopped in the middle nestbox, so I popped Georgie in with her.

I need to fix the stall walls so they cannot fly up and roost there - they need to start going into the Hen Houses on their own - I am tired of moving them in there after they roost.

Thanks for the geography info, much appreciated. I remember one winter ? Think 2017 I drove my mum over to see our cousins on Christmas in Bakersfield, going up the mountains from LA area and over the other side it was snowing wet snow on the roads, but further up the hills it was sticking to the ground.

I guess that’s were my cousins would you skiing and such…? I was not impressed as I am not a winter person. But I was glad I was one of those on the road more used to crazy snowy roads - ugh. I was surprised they didn’t have sand and salt put down on the roads! Would have really helped with traction. Got to Bakersfield and it was a mild 10C (more like it!).

Ok well speaking of eggs I need to go and hunt down Mrs LC’s latest hiding spot. Silly girl!

Now I can ski, actually quite well
