I am always amazed at both your knowledge and ability to retain and synthesize information. I have learned (and, unfortunately, forgotten again) so much about chickens, breeds, and feather patterns from you! I wish my brain was younger so I could retain more of the information you share! Alas, between age and stress and life, I seem to be retaining less and less new info lately. Thanks for your PATIENT re-educating us on a regular basis - and being willing to do the deep dives to make sure we have correct info!:love:thumbsup:love:thumbsup

[p.s. I do have to say I am proud of the fact that I remembered that Dark Brahmas were penciled, though, not laced - and what the difference is. I still can't quite wrap my head around penciled versus partridge - other than a base colour of brown...it just doesn't make sense to me that it is called something different:idunno.]

Thank you.
I hear ya! I call them all pencilled now 😆

That’s a Barnevelder? I have never seen one that colour before ♥️

Added to my list….
There are gold laced Barnevelders & silver double laced Barnevelders but I see no difference other than gold or silver feathers ~ double silver seems to show the feathers sharper?

Barnevelder ~ this one says it's a show winner
A silver laced show winning barnevelder hen.

Barnevelder Temperament

Double-laced Barnevelder chickens look like someone had some chickens, a marker, and way too much time on their hands :lau

All my neighbors seem to find it funny that my chickens wander about. She was directly across the street. I looked up from eating breakfast and there she was. It stresses me out since it is a neighborhood full of dogs and a few people drive way too fast.
Glad she is fine! I have a few that like to wander…. Gives me fits when they make a run for it!

They had light and buff brahmas in the list (I did NOT choose a location, so that might be it)
Nope doesn’t make any difference, it’s the same across all Peavey locations 😞

Oh well I don’t need or have room for anymore this year. Maybe in 2026….

All gorgeous ♥️

It’s not that Hoovers doesn’t have them but Peavey Mart has an agreement with Hoovrs and supplies only certain breeds.

They offer only the Lighy and Buff ones.

This is what they offered last year.

EDIT
Well now, how terribly disappointing, this is the 2025 line up of offerings. A bunch of new offerings, But mostly silly production breeds. I was seriously hoping for some of the more exotic breeds Hoovers has on offer. And still not Buff and Light Brahmas.

First delivery date for orders is 25 April.
That's frustrating! Maybe ask Peavey if they could get some Brahmas in? You never know they might say yes. Brahmas are not production breed so their chick hatching is limited & they may be available in later Spring?

We asked our local feed store who were limited to production or prolific laying breeds only so we asked for Dominiques & they special ordered 25 chicks from a distant hatchery (we only wanted 3 chicks) but the feed store had no problem selling the rest of the chicks that came from Privett Hatchery in New Mexico.

The feed store was too busy to notify us when the chicks arrived so we called every couple days to check if the Dom chicks were there yet.

I was really eggcited thinking they would expand the list available. Especially now that Hoovers has acquired that Privett rare breeds hatchery that offers all the more exotic breeds.

Though it looks like they are offering the Production Blue Which is from Privetts.

Peaveys is a huge corporation they won’t special order in I already asked last year and the yr before…

Oh well don’t need more this coming year.
