I am always amazed at both your knowledge and ability to retain and synthesize information. I have learned (and, unfortunately, forgotten again) so much about chickens, breeds, and feather patterns from you! I wish my brain was younger so I could retain more of the information you share! Alas, between age and stress and life, I seem to be retaining less and less new info lately. Thanks for your PATIENT re-educating us on a regular basis - and being willing to do the deep dives to make sure we have correct info!:love:thumbsup:love:thumbsup

[p.s. I do have to say I am proud of the fact that I remembered that Dark Brahmas were penciled, though, not laced - and what the difference is. I still can't quite wrap my head around penciled versus partridge - other than a base colour of brown...it just doesn't make sense to me that it is called something different:idunno.]

Thank you.
Yes. This! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us @rural mouse, and for being so patient with us when we forget what you already explained.

It's been there for a while ~ since your previous camera postings of that location :gig
Hahaha :gig

Actually it does get moved around, but I generally leave it near Reenie who is a messy eater, I sweep up all her spilled grain and hay, so it’s handy to keep nearby.

Today I was wanting to sweep cobwebs but it was too cold for me to do much. Twice I grabbed the broom and thought I had it by the feedroom door!

I did not know that color existed. Ok, I need 1 of those to go with a double silver laced variety. It will not be anytime soon though. No new breeds brought in for awhile. I will add in another new breed in a few years time when my older girls pass away from hopefully old age.
I hear ya, no more for me either.

Though I do wonder if I can borrow a couple chicks from someone to give to Georgie Girl. I don’t want to keep them, just borrow them for a couple months haha.

I have some sad news to share, especially for those who followed her journey from the start. Little Piou-piou was killed early this morning by a weasel that broke in the coop.
She was our special little princess and we are heartbroken.
I'll post a tribute when I feel less upset.

I'm truly sorry 😞 :hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

Hang in there 🙏 💓

Christmas is right around the corner. This year we chose not to put up the big Christmas tree. 90% of the ornaments we use are handmade from Grandma. Neither me or mom felt up to the task of putting it up.

We are not total scrooges though and Grandma is still very much represented this year. Actually more so in what we ended up doing.

I present to you our Christmas tree village.

These tree's were hers along with the 2 lamps. She had them long before I was born and kept them displayed year round. Bringing these home felt like the right thing to do this year.
