Christmas is right around the corner. This year we chose not to put up the big Christmas tree. 90% of the ornaments we use are handmade from Grandma. Neither me or mom felt up to the task of putting it up.

We are not total scrooges though and Grandma is still very much represented this year. Actually more so in what we ended up doing.

I present to you our Christmas tree village.

These tree's were hers along with the 2 lamps. She had them long before I was born and kept them displayed year round. Bringing these home felt like the right thing to do this year.

We had our Christmas dinner this past Thursday. My brother, sister and her boyfriend all had to work both Christmas Eve and Christmas day. My sister wanted my brother to use his favorite new toy, the smoker, to make smoked bologna of all things. Mike needs no excuse to use the smoker so he was game for it. He questioned her choice though so he also had a plan b and c if it flopped. He ended up smoking bologna, chicken and brisket for dinner. The bologna was ok, basically little smokies without them swimming in barbeque sauce. The brisket and chicken were amazing. Sis loved her choice though and it was her favorite.

After dinner we all got down to the serious business. We are a card playing family. Every single one of us is competitive. 6 hours of the new current favorite game of "Uno, No Mercy". Poor Austin. He was sandwiched between myself and my sister. I am evil and sis was informed she was sleeping on the couch multiple times. Payback is supposedly coming on New Years Eve.

Sis got me 2 new shirts to add to my collection for Christmas.

Mr. Wyandottey started his crowing at 0:430 PST he’s just so loud in the house. I need to find his snooze button and quick!

No snow… what’s your temps like? Been miserably cold here. No wonder Georgie won’t stop being broody! It’s warmer to snuggle in her nest box hahaha I left her this morning with a couple eggs under her I didn’t have time to grab them before I left, at least they won’t freeze ha!

I had to separate Mr P from the main gang - that Betty and a couple other of the pullets were picking at him again and got him all bleeding. He looks like heck again. Sheesh!

Well now that’s early! Of course having said that, when I go to the barn around then my Roos are also crowing.
