Thank you. Funny that it has seeds and is also certified weed free!
The seeds are likely the heads of the wheat that didn’t thrash completely.

This is why my stalls are always a mess at days end - they chooks dig, scratch and excavate away at the bedding, te hey fimd the heads of the straw, and beat the crap out of it to release the seeds and eat.

I’ll try to get a picture of one of the seed heads - it’s hilarious when someone finds a full seed head - the chase is on! Gosh I love straw. I even throw scratch grain in the straw for Georgie and her dumplings. Keeps them busy.

I'm not a fan of stromberg's. When I was first exploring purchasing chicks, I'm pretty sure they're the ones who offered free de-beaking front and center of their website home page. It doesn't say that anymore, but...my reaction was not going to use them...EVER.
I was furious when I got this Azur, they had their beaks cut, it’s taken my the past year to get them half ways decent. They are almost normal now.

I had an interesting dream last night. I had 15 chickies, 5 black french marans, 5 bielefelder, and 5 cream legbar. But it was weird because I had to carry the box they were in everywhere. Hubby was taking me to a farm store to buy hand warmers. When we got there the clerk said I should get 5 more chicks so I'd have an even 20. I was browsing the bins when kiddo started making noise so I woke up.

Maybe it's good that you woke up. You might've ended up with 40!

Honestly, with how many people are giving me eggs this spring, I might haha!
It is different because we're going to eat a bunch though.

Hubby was talking the other day about how many layers we should keep, he came up with 12-15! plus a rooster or two.

Tomorrow I will throw some corn in it to keep them entertained.
