Would anyone care to explain to me the "tax" reference?
Tax is a photo of a chicken that must be attached to non chicken related posts. My above post is in violation of that.

Should Have Read Ahead, or SHRA tax is to be paid when to reply to a post that already has a answer. In that case the tax must contain two chickens in the same frame.

@ChicoryBlue , I think you've mentioned to me you have a Pixel 4a. Don't install the new update Google put out for it, as from what I've heard the update makes the battery hold less charge. Also, don't send it in for a replacement battery, as supposedly they are finding things "wrong" with the device so they can charge you more.

It's Our Turn Now

More H5N1 avian flu detections have been confirmed in poultry flocks in nine states over the past 2 days, including a massive layer farm in Pennsylvania that has nearly 2 million birds, according to the latest notifications from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).

Layer farms have been hard hit in multiple states, and the latest event in Pennsylvania’s Dauphin County will likely add to ongoing egg supply shortages. The virus also struck another commercial farm in Pennsylvania, a broiler facility in Cumberland County that has 30,000 birds.

I live in the same county as the 2 million layers and just across the river from the 30,000 layers. I am considering locking mine in the complex for a while.

It's strange that cold & snowy PA has any winter cases of AI?! Do migratory birds fly over PA in the snowstorms?

Yup that’s partly it I am sure 😊

But I think he is likley happy you are on the mend, us health care people we want the elderly to live as independently as if they are in their 50s.

Elder tax
Raven is doing really well, she is back with the main gang at night now.

Glad is recovering enough to be back with her flock!

This is not going well. I started looking for orps, 5 minutes into it I was falling deeper down the "I want this silkie" rabbit hole. Somehow towards the end I was also looking for Marans. It dawned on me that in 2 weeks Holly my oldest will be 5 and my youngest is already 2 coming up on 3.

What am I supposed to be looking for again....right orps.
Ha! This is chicken math in real time. Happens to just about all of us. We can’t be blamed, it’s not our fault chickens are so cool that they are addicting. All we can do is get more totally out of our control.
Okay....I get it now! Love it!!!!
Yeah, we are a very chatty bunch (points to page count) this helps us all stay on topic and yet still allows for some off topic chatter. ;)

Oh no I am sorry to hear this. It makes me sad for the birds that will undoubtedly have to culled and also for the worry I am sure it’s causing you.

I know it’s a bit hard on your girls but I think you are absolutely on point about locking them in for a bit.

It was the "going down the silkie rabbit hole" that caused one of my groups to start popping back up in my daily feed on facebook.

This is the end result.

I feel not one ounce of guilt or shame. I'm not sure about a dozen buffs, but I guess sometime this spring or summer I do need to cave and get mom a few new orps now.

I swear, I was looking for orp eggs and breeders locally. Well....I started out looking for orps I should say.

My heart is a little heavy tonight. I just saw that a former set of neighbor's 10 year old daughter was diagnosed this evening with type 1 diabetes. I know there are worse diseases out there, I get that. I have been in her place before and it was the scariest time of my life. I'm 25 years in this June on this journey and there are still days diabetes reminds me that no matter how many advancements and tools have come along, I'm still not able to do the job as well as a perfectly working pancreas.
